After several plays, my conclusion is that this is a top10 (maybe 5 even) album amongst my favorites.
I love the earlier Anathema-albums, but this album doesn't sound like anything else they've done.
The positive energy is overwhelming, the atmosphere and the emotions are amazing, and overall this is a fantastic record.
I doubt there will be another album released this year that can top this, but again... Agalloch are working on a new album.
So you never know. :P
We're Here Because We're Here is definitely my album of the year so far

but again... Agalloch are working on a new album. So you never know. :P

on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

This album literally amazes me every time I hear it. I really can't get enough of it.

I really love Everything, and the way it sounds very positive/uplifting.
Summernight Horizon and Universal are tied for the best song.

Yup they were :D

I enjoyed the songs i knew so much, I just wish I had listened to the stuff I don't more, 'cause I didn't know quite a few songs :S And lots I knew but didn't know the words which was kinda lame.

Oh and Voxyn, Lee is *so* much better now, her old stuff was just so much better live.

Also, Daniel looks odd with his short hair!

Oh yeah, everything kept dying too. Daniel lost power to his entire rig, then Vinnie lost monitors so Daniel gave him his, then they died too, and yet Vinnie still nailed all the vocal lines :D

edit: Oh and Vinnie got every to admit they pirated the new album, and they said they don't care, it's fine :)

I actually think Are You There? might have been the best bit...impromptu acoustic songs rock!

And I second that Danny looks weird with short hair. I genuinely wasn't 100% sure who he was when he first came on stage.

Review coming tomorrow!

How was Dreaming Light live? I remember One Last Goodbye being truly amazing.

I must say that I kinda like Lee's vocals on the new album, whilst I hated them on A Natural Disaster (I do not like the title track btw). She has definitely improved a lot.

No, but they did play everything else off that album bar Hindsight and Get off get out. I was so happy they played Universal over Hindsight, I think it's the stronger long song.

I'm not saying it's 2 bad songs, but they're probably the songs i like the least on the album. (still being awesome)
Hindsight and Summernight Horizon are superior. :P

Thanks

Whilst I agree with the above statement, I'd still rather have had Hindsight than Sleepless...as was originally planned
