Recently got the Fleshgod Apocalypse album based on a thread here about them. Awesomely brutal album. :2metal:

Most random album ever. Those classical passages slay me.

Yeah, but they break up the album nicely. Seems heavier because of the regular contrast.

Any Nile fans on here?

They're pretty much the only extreme heavy metal band I listen to.

Nile is pretty fucking awesome.

Carcass is recommended.  Nectrocism is an excellent album.

Apart from that, not much else, although I'd like to get into Septic FLesh.

Necroticism = Awesomeness X10. Another good album from Carcass would be Heartwork. Their other stuff is more grindcore, but still not too bad.

So I realized I posted in this thread without posting what bands I listen to...mostly Opeth, Death, Scar Symmetry, Amorphis, and BTBAM (I am fully aware that 4/5 of those aren't 100% death metal...is BTBAM even death metal?)

I haven't been able to get into any of the more brutal death metal, though.

...my name is Araragi.

NO! BTBAM is progressive metalcore.

MAJOR
BUMPAGE!

Death, Deicide and The Faceless are the 3 death metal bands I have been listening to compulsively lately.

If only The Faceless didn't do that really, really whiny/annoying as shit singing in Sons of Belial. If that wasn't there, Planetary Duality would be a practically perfect album.

Opeth, Dan Swano's solo stuff, and Dethklok are three death (or deth) metal bands I listen to, with Cynic and Amorphis kinda counting?  I think?

Thought I'd go ahead and bump this thread, again.

Last night I saw Obituary for the first time. Gravenloch, Warbringer, The Berzerker, Krisiun and Goatwhore where the other 4 bands playing. All I can say was, that show was pretty bad ass.

And, I know a few of you here will be able appreciate this

That's the bass players pick, by the way. I caught it.

How has Dethklok only been mentioned once in this thread? Now, I know it's only one guy and a drummer...but with Dethalbum II on the way, "Dethklok" music is making some serious headway in the death metal genre. I mean, what's more metal than song titles such as "Death by Laser Beam Cannon" and "I Tamper With The Evidence At The Murder Site of Odin"?

Maybe not the most serious death metal around, but is that really the point?

BTW, Dethklok has the best selling death metal album of all time to date...and is probably going to do it again come Sept. 29th. Just thought that was interesting.
Sig removed for being too large.

Dethklok  :hefdaddy :hefdaddy :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

Can't wait for the Dethalbum to be released. And I can't wait to see Dethklok on October 3rd with Mastodon. Should be a badass album.

I haven't enjoyed the genre in many years.  However, Spiritual Healing should be required listening, IMO.

Yeah, Death is the only pure death metal band I listen to.

I don't listen to death metal that much but I like a few bands that are close to the genre like Opeth, Kreator, Amon Amarth, Death, Children of Bodom...and that's about it (Death beeing the only exception).

The only true Death metal band I really like is Bloodbath.

I have nothing against the genre, it just isn't really for me, I need melody.
