We had a St. Bernard while I was growing up. Awesome dog. (His name was Trail)
We then had a Beagle; another awesome dog. (Named Hambone)
I've had a Norwegian Elkhound, beautiful dog but very busy! (Hamar)
I also had a rescued "Coy Dog" (coyote/black lab mix). One of the best dogs I've ever known. (Molly)
Now we have two rescued Huskies; Lucy, a Husky/Greater Swiss Mtn. dog mix; and Dreyfuss, a pure bred Siberian Husky.
I've loved every dog I've ever had the pleasure of taking care of, and they have all been great dogs. I tend to favor the "Spitz" type breeds I guess. I love larger working type dogs. I've never had my huskies pull a cart or anything (although I'm told they love too), but we have had Lucy work as an agility dog, and she's awesome!
Beagles are great dogs too!
Everyone of the dogs I listed are great dogs with families (especially St. Bernards, and Huskies), but they all also require a lot of excercise (especially the Norwegian Elkhound)
