Don't think the lyrics are lame.  Honestly, they're just okay.  They don't add or subtract anything from the music, which I love.

Overrated song on an overrated album.

Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

I love the track..when DT first toured OZ back in 2007 they played this live but in a medley with some other tracks I felt extremely pissed at the time. But having the Live in Budokan DVD made up for it.

Train of thought was my first DT album and I will always love it for that reason, but nowadays I do play it less and less, but it is one album you can play that a non DT fan will like.

At one time, I really thought DT's lyrics were awesome and "deep". I don't get that from the lyrics at all anymore.  :lol

That said, I don't think the lyrics for this song are that bad... interesting lyrical concept and the execution worked. And the song itself is badass.  :metal One of the best songs DT has put out since 6DOIT.

I love ItNoG. Definitely Petrucci's most entertaining shred moment.

As for the lyrics, not so great. I'll stick to Blind Faith for cool religion lyrics, thank you.

I love the song but I don't consider it the best on the album. That honor goes to This Dying Soul.

The best song on TOT and one of my favorite DT songs!  :metal That unison is quite crazy! I don't see anything bad in the lyrics.

I would venture that with this opinion you are a member of a very small club.

Hey, This Dying Soul is an amazing song IMO.

Oh and yeah, In the Name of God is pretty good too. The outro has always been my favorite ending to a DT album.

It's a good song, but I used to like it better. There's still that heavy middle part with the unison and stuff, the one featured on Chaos in motion - and that section's just incredible. The rest is just plain solid, but nothing spectacular.

This dying soul and Stream of consciousness are my favorites on ToT, but it's a fine album all around.

ItNoG is easily one of my top 5 songs from DT. The reason is because it was the song that grabbed my attention, out of all the song from ToT. And as a result of that I've been an DT-addict for 7 years now. :hefdaddy

I totally wnet down to the Mancave and put ITNOG on and turned it up to 11 after reading through this thread.  And totally pissed off the wife at 0945 am.  I love ITNOG.  The OUtro....................squirt

We all need a lil ITNOG in our life.  That with the shuffle going to the Glass Prison right after   :metal :metal :metal

The best Dream Theater song.

It and This Dying Soul are fairly close for my favourite on Train Of Thought, but In The Name Of God takes it.

I think it's Dream Theater's most epic song. Skull-crushing riffs, soaring choruses, one of their greatest unisons, blazing solos, and, live, you can't help but sing along and wave your arms at the end. And it's got the friggin' Battle Hymn of the Republic in it!

Pretty sure Blind Faith isn't religious.

For religious DT songs I'd listen to The Spirit Carries On.
Such a beautiful song.

One of my favorites in the album along with Stream of Consciousness and Endless Sacrifice. I love the instrumental section, the unison is just brutally good.

One of the better songs on ToT. Which doesn't really say much, because for me, ToT is a strong contender for least favourite DT album.

All in all it's allright, I guess. A bit overrated.
The outro however is indeed awesome.

I have always loved this song....especially toward the end after the JP flurry of notes....there is a part that reminds me very specifically of Aldo Nova's Subjects......probably just me....

Weak song redeemed by a great live solo, and undermined by all the other flurry of notes in between.

Is it opposite day?

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.
