Nah I just haven't checked it out at all yet, but will for the new guitarist. I have a hard time with Stu Block singing in a way that just doesn't seem natural for him (I know, Jon tells him exactly what to do).

Everything has improved here.  Stu isn't my fav IE singer, and I agree with you and have felt that way since he joined, but he sounds decent enough here, even solid!  The songwriting has stepped up also.  Great record all round.  Check it.

IE goes through so many damn band members I have never known who the hell is in the band outside of the singer and Jon Schaffer. The Wikipedia page's band member timeline is funny, the drummer section looks like a seismograph reading...

Whoever the guitarist, bassist, and drummer were during Something Wicked This Way Comes: I like that lineup best, also has the best production of any IE album imo so maybe that has something to do with it.

But yeah I think Incorruptible is a great step up, best of the Stu era definitely. Brothers has grown on me big time, that's a catchy tune.

After you check out the new IE album, go and check out Jake's other band Witherfall to get a better idea of what the guy is capable of as a guitarist and songwriter. :tup

That's still my favorite album of the year at this point!

After one spin, Incorruptible is a big step up from recent efforts at the very least. Just three songs in on the Witherfall album, and this is really cool. Tasteful neoclassical, with Latin influences on the current track. Thanks for the recommendation. I hope Dreyer in IE doesn't end up like Loomis in AE.

I don't think he will - Jon mentioned that Jake came into the production with some very "Iced Earth-y" sounding songs that he wished he could have expanded on.

Re-listened to that Clear the Way song.

Man, those verses have some weird singing on them. It's not his usual marble gargling Barlow voice, but it's still dumb.

That's definitely Stu in the verses of Clear the Way.  He sounds a lot more "punkish" to me during those parts.

European tour dates announced for early 2018!  :metal

Damn, no Italy so far.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Stormrider was one of the songs that got me into the band...

I don't hear it on Clear the Way. Clearly Stu. Not Schaffer.

Sorry Zook, but that's totally Stu on Clear the Way. He did an interview with That Drummer Guy a few months back and I remember him mentioning how he tried to do some distinctions with his voice on certain songs like Clear the Way and Black Flag to reflect the characters of those songs.

Obviously Sons of Liberty is the main on here, but not sure how you could think he sings on Clear the Way.

When Troy Seele came along, the worst player to ever strap on a Suhr Modern, he Glen Drover'd allover Larry's solos and virtually every pre-Larry lead, no matter how simple. The band would never recover...

I'm glad Troy is gone.  Jon was blinded by friendship there.  One of the worst guitar players I've ever heard playing at that level.

A clip of new music from Sentinels.   Matt Barlow and Jonah Weingarten of Pyramaze - this is movie score music with vocals.

I had no idea what to expect, and Barlow's just wailing on this in the background behind his lead vocals.  Truly epic sounding shit.   :metal

Speaking of Jonah, he just joined the Australian prog metal band Teramaze earlier this week too! Can't wait to hear him on that new album sometime next year! :metal

There's a books / multimedia store nearby my work, I often go there during lunch break. In the DVDs section there's a string of the classic horror movies, the Universal ones, they're under the "Legacy collection" package.

I must confess I felt tempted more than once to re-organize them on the shelf following the tracklist on Horror Show  ;D but I gave up 'cause I would have felt silly and the list would have been incomplete anyway... but the thought crossed my mind

That's awesome, MM :)

I'm not sure how I feel about that Sentinels clip if I'm being honest. Maybe it's just the melodies but it didn't impress me much and I actually would've liked it more without the wailing in the background. Barlow's one of those guys whose voice can instantly make anything better just because it's so good, but...

Interesting indeed. I'm a huge fan of heavy film score. I need to hear more before deciding to pick it up. Love Barlow, however.

Re: Incorruptible -- is it just me, or has this record had almost zero staying power with people this year. It's not a bad record at all, but it's like I forget about it. Going to put it on now, just because I can't remember the last time I put it on.

I strongly urge you to listen to Something Wicked This Way Comes and Horror Show, in that order, and once your hair is blown back you can come back for more  Or even listen to Dante's Inferno - 16 minutes of kickass metal.

I strongly confirm those suggestions too.

Only if you're REALLY into trash metal, check Night of the Stormrider, but it doesn't have their classic singer, so go for Something Wicked This Way Comes and then maybe Dark Saga, before going on to Horror Show.

Yeah, if he doesn't mind listening to live first, then Alive is perfect. Personally I don't ever start with live albums or compilations but that's just me :)

I'd also recommend a couple songs from Ripper and Stu Block eras... Declaration Day and Ten Thousand Strong for Ripper, and Dystopia/Boiling Point/Raven Wing for Stu
