Word editor help
« on: September 09, 2011, 12:10:37 PM »
I am trying to do a multi-line find and replace .  It seems MS word/wordpad/notepad can only replace a single line with a single line and I need to replace a single line with multiple lines.  Some google searches informed me about something called Notepad++ which may have this kind of functionality, but I can't install that at work right now.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by replacing a single line with multiple lines.

If I interpret correctly, you want to replace one sentence with multiple sentences? Or do you mean you want like:

Hello

Replaced with something like

Hello
hello

Literally on multiple lines?

...my name is Araragi.

Your example is right.  I need to replace a single line with sentences on multiple lines.

Hello

becomes

Hello
Hello
....

Is there some carriage return character?

This is exactly what i need:

Code: [Select]
*Elastic, type=ORTHOTROPIC
replaced with:

Code: [Select]
*Density
0.0001475,
*Elastic, type=ORTHOTROPIC
