Working late hours
« on: September 06, 2011, 04:42:20 PM »
Hi DTF,

I am venting some frustration with you for the first time (hope you don't mind). It's around 8 pm here and I'm still at the office. I should have gone at 6 but I had to stay because we need to migrate information from our old financial system to the new one. We should have had this info this morning, but the team that is handling that did not make it in time and now I'll have to stay here till midnight or more  >:(. How do I go about not killing someone!?

oh I hear you!

Because of the nature of tasks I carry out, I have to work overtime, 3 months a year.... including weekends... sometimes sit around doing nothing, which is the worst... don't ask me why? I fuckin don't know....

and that's gonna start in nearly a month  :'(

accept it
there's no way to get around it... in my company...

good news is, having done an MBA now, I'm looking into switching to music industry... as it's so well aligned with my skills, experience and aspirations.....
fingers crossed....

I feel your pain.  Last week I was in the office 'til 8:30pm Tuesday, midnight Wednesday and 10:30pm Thursday.  Just comes with the territory sometimes... :/

I usually work until 10 or 11 PM at one job and overnight for the other and am a total night owl so I have no sympathy for any of you :P

My dad has three jobs. He is a minister, but he also is a chaplain at two hospitals, one of which is nearly two hours away. He works from about 7pm-8am at one of them 5 times a month, and from about 8pm-10am at the other. As if this isn't long enough, he somethimes has to stay longer depending on the situation. It sucks. Even worse, he's considering getting a fourth job.

Well, I'm not getting home too late but I get up real early and put in about 55 to 57 hours a week. I'd love to cut it down to 50.

In the financial IT business, working late is normal. Sounds like you are in that business as am I. While I dont work OT too much at the moment, I work till midnight every work day but I dont usually get out till 1

It's 1am here and still at the office and this doesn't look like it's gonna get any better. Thankfully my coworkers are trying to be upbeat so it's not that bad.

I'm sorry to hear about all of you who have to work a lot.
