1. Prelude & Resurrection (9:00)
2. Forsaken (5:30)
3. Constant Motion (7:00)
4. The Dark Eternal Night (9:00)
5. Heretic (6:00)
6. Beautiful Agony (5:00)
7. Prophets of War (6:00)
8. Wither (5:30)
9. The Count of Tuscany (19:00)
That's 72:00 or so. Prelude & Resurrection and Heretic are the movements of ItPoE. The first one's ItPoE 1 in its entirity, Heretic's the first "bit" of ItPoE 2. I'm severing the connection, though, 'cause without the Grand Finale (is it called that?) and the Reckoning to tie both parts together, they don't actually have that much in common.
Would've been nice for A Rite of Passage to go in, but it doesn't really fit. I quite like Wither as the second to last track, though. I also tried to find a way to slip Repentance and The Shattered Fortress in, but they're too long and I simply don't like them enough. Hey ho, them's the breaks. Save them for an EP. The other big losses are the first half of A Nightmare to Remember, and The Slaughter of the Damned, both of which were probably short enough to fit, but A Bullet from the Night (let's call it) seems a bit lop-sided without something on the other end to weigh it down, and TSotD doesn't stand so well on its own, despite being a lot of fun.
So, that leaves The Best of Times, which I run a little hot and cold on. At any given moment, I either adore the song, or am psychopathically indifferent to it. Also, The Ministry of Lost Souls, which I quite like, but I don't like it enough to give fifteen minutes of a seventy-five minute album to it. It's fifteen minutes of "ohhh, this is pretty nifty," rather than fifteen minutes of "WHOA. THAT IS BRILLIANT," so it's not a good candidate for when I'm being frugal. Might give the album its title, though, 'cause I really like that name.
The Reckoning's out 'cause it's boring, the last section of ANtR is out because it's nice but doesn't really go anywhere, Grand Finale (is it called that?)'s out because we don't need a Grand Finale (is it called that?), so there's very little that I abjectly dislike. Just the Reckoning, really. It's just a matter of summing it up into a killer album.
