Oh I do love a chilled bottle of white-wine on these hot, humid summer days. Which is like 70 percent of days in Hong Kong.

Yep, Chardonnay is a white. Other common whites are Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chablis. Common reds are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Shiraz/Syrah, and Zinfandel (not to be confused with White Zinfandel which is confusingly not a white but rather a blush [kinda the grey area of wine-color classification.])

I'm pretty into wine and I'm trying to build up a nice collection even though I rarely drink wine.

My personal favorite is 2up Shiraz

I do like wine tastings tho, while at uni I took a 3 month recreational course on wine that was fascinating.

I've been buying a rather expensive cab sauvignon from one of the local wineries, but it is delicious.  Bold, slightly spicy flavor.  Also, it's part of an amazing steak marinade I've been using.

The wine?  It's from a small winery near York, PA, called Allegro Winery.  It's their 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon.  It's around $19 a bottle, but it's very good.

I likes me the vino!

I've done the whole Napa wine country thing a few times now, it's pretty sweet if you appreciate good wine (and food for that matter).  There's a weird mix/clash of hippy farmer culture and yuppy snobdouchery going on up there, but the food and wine really lives up to the hype imo.  Best wine I've ever had was probablly a '04 or '05 (can't recall) Cab from a tiny winery up there called Van Der Hayden or something like that.  The tasting room was a little shed in the family's back yard, me and my wife had to walk through their yard while the family was chilling out there having happy hour (I think even their young kids were having a little wine lol).  It reminded me of being in high school and walking into some stranger's backyard for a party or something.  Anyway, the wine was freaking bomb, really heavy cab with a chocolatey nose to it.  We bought a bottle to take home and planned on saving it for a special occasion or something, but after a few months we realized the cork had become compromised so we had to open it and drink it on a random day.  Wasn't the worst thing to have happen.  :tup

I get off on finding good wines for as low a price as possible. I've been in Argentina for the past like 3 months or so and it's amazing how cheap some wines are here. For about 20 pesos (5$ USD) I've bought some fantastic red and whites.

I have a few good Ports and Pinot Noir. White Wine feels too much like juice compared to reds.

I'm not a big fan of white wine, probably because most of my exposure to it has been the cheap Chardonnay that my mom drinks. no thanks :tdwn

Love me a good Cabernet though, and good red wine in general. I'm primarily a beer guy because, among other reasons, you can get a wine sized bottle of world class, delicious beer for $10, but wine... not so much. I have uncles though, that are into good wine, and I love having dinner with them because they'll always bust out something cool.

Fun side note, my next homebrewed beer will be aged on oak cubes that I soak in port wine (which I also love).
Photobucket sucks.

Yes. In 1998. Now I'm more refined and drink the Snow Creek Berry variety.

While not traditional wine I just poured myself a glass of awesome sangria that I got on my birthday, yummy.
