There Can Be No Turning Back

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I took lyrics from
Black Clouds and Silver Linings
and made some haikus.

Blessing no one died,
by the grace of god above,
everyone survived.

My brother! Bearded
gentleman historian.
Sucking on his pipe!

A rite of passage,
A nightmare to remember,
The shattered fortress.

I remember using this special "the question is an example of the answer" hosting a pub quiz a few years back:

Minimal poems

Please leave DT out
of the sacred haiku thread
They have their own side
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Overcast

Where, the scent of rain
Deeper into the forest
Time falls from the sky

Sky, cannot be seen
The clouds fight ferociously
Blood spills on the earth

Earth, covered in light
The other half finds beauty
Cool breeze at midnight

Night, where the wind flows
Let your instincts guide you home
From the grassy field

Field, top of the sky
Under it there is no light
Forest, guide us where

Just a little haiku cycle I decided to write with some inspiration. There's a bit of a story.

Assimilation
complete.  That was too easy.
Now, time for some pie.

Writing since I'm bored
And much too lazy to move

Something is futile.
I can't quite remember what.
Oh yeah. Resistance.

THREAD REVIVAL!

Every once in a while I will write haikus on Facebook. Here are some of mine from the past few days.

It's that time again
Writing haikus on Facebook
For the next few days.

Who you gonna call?
Not McCarthy and her gang.
Pete Venkman for life.

Two, three, five, seven
Eleven and then thirteen.
This haiku is prime.

What country you from?
Do they speak English in "What?"
Say "what" one more time.
Listen! Do you smell something?
