I don't get the hate for Fire it Up, the lyrics are something different (more suited to Wiz Khalifa song I guess) but the main chorus riff is like top 5 Donegan at least.

The Sound of Silence cover does feel out of place inbetween two heavy rockers, I usually just skip it since I use the album as workout music and it can kinda kill the drive. It's probably their best cover yet though.

Fire It Up would be my least fav too actually.

And yeah, Sound of Silence could be their best cover.  I still love their Land of Consufion one though.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Damn, it's already been 2 years since Immortalized.

Anyway, I learned today that Disturbed, or rather David Draiman, did not coin the phrase "Droppin' Plates", but it may in fact have been........ Beavis. In the episode Green Thumbs during the Michael Bolton video, Beavis suggests Bolton do Gangsta Rap, and says, "Droppin' plates on your ass bitch!" I searched google and only the Disturbed song pops up and people asking its meaning. No other lyrics from rap songs. Did Mike Judge create the term, "Droppin' plates"? He must have heard it from a rap song or rapper or something. Why else would Beavis mention Gangsta rap?

Honestly, this track is a bit meh to me, but quite frankly in terms of the tripe that modern alternative metal bands have released nowadays (Shinedown, Five Finger Death Punch, and Godsmack), I'd prefer this Disturbed track over that sort of tripe I just mentioned.

What up with that music video with the drones and, well for me, the horribly choreographed parkour scenes?

NOMACS!

The song isn't bad, but it's an amalgamation of their other songs, down to the same riffs and melodies.

Before I discovered DT, Disturbed was my favorite band. The thing with them is that they never explored outside of their original sound and style, which is why a lot of their songs sound similar. This song sounds pretty similar to immortalize or any old “heavy” disturbed song.

With that said, I like it. First listen didn’t do much but second and third time, the song grew on me. Very excited for the album and hopefully seeing them live.

This is the band that took a five year hiatus from making albums to freshen up their sound and came back with... the same exact sound, so I'm not really expecting anything to out there from the usual. I still like listening to them though.

Is the new album cover the first one since Believe to not have their mascot on it?  :eek

I liked the new song. Not sure why, but don't really care. I liked it.

I really love Believe and 10,000 Fists. But to be honest, I think the albums that followed have all been forgettable.

Another new song:

A Reason to Fight
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4382UVl0oc

It's... OK. David has a great voice, but the song itself doesn't have a lot going for it.

Not surprisingly, Evolution isn't very good. I like Hold on to Memories, one of the acoustic ballads. Are You Ready has grown on me though. After one listen, it's still better than Asylum, but not by much.

^^ How does it compare to Immortalized?  I liked a couple of songs off that one.  The Vengeful One, The Light, Who Taught You How to Hate are solid enough and of course, their version of the Sound of Silence is great (albeit overplayed now and probably have overtaken Down with the Sickness as their most well known song now).

Immortalized is a masterpiece compared to this album. I like that they tried something different, it's just that aside from the acoustic songs, and adding electronic elements back into their sound, I'd hardly call this album an "evolution". It's really just typical Disturbed, but with a more stripped back classic rock sound, which is exactly what they were going for. There are few songs on Immortalized I didn't care for, but I got more enjoyment from that album. These are my thoughts after just one listen, but I was underwhelmed.

I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition, and tried to cancel, just based on what I've heard. Apparently it shipped, so I'll probably return it. Stick a fork in Disturbed.

In all honesty, Evolution is an ok album to me.  It's not much of a masterpiece, but it's sure is better than the tripe that their contemporaries (Five Finger Death Punch, Shinedown, and Godsmack) released this year.  The ballads I like the most (especially Hold On To Memories), and the heavy stuff were a bit monotonous to me.  Are You Ready is quite the grower.  You hear it enough on Sirius XM radio and you cannot get it out of your head afterwards, which I guess fulfills its role as a single.

I'm interested in seeing them at MSG in February, haven't listened to the new album, probably won't for a bit actually, but I saw them once a couple years ago and thought they were good live.

I, too, am interested in seeing them at the Forum in Inglewood, CA.  They got Three Days Grace as support and, sure, no Adam Gontier in the band really hurts their appeal, to me, but I'm sure there's going to be some good singalongs in their set.  Cheapest tickets in the 200 sections is at least $50.00 + fees.  Don't want to pay that price which could go to at least $65.00 fees included.

I guess I will hope that there's a Groupon deal for cheaper.  I mean if 30 Seconds to Mars had a Groupon deal for their show at the Forum, Disturbed's bound to have one eventually.

I've seen Disturbed three times. Each time, they got showed up in the energy and charisma department by bands they were playing with (Sevendust, and now, of course, I can't remember the other two). And each time, my wife and I both agree, it comes down to two factors - the lack of a second guitar to replicate the heaviness on the albums, and David Draiman thinking he has more control of a crowd than he really does.

I would have liked to have seen them in a club - maybe in a small room, the energy would be different. All three times it has been an arena, theater, or amphitheater.

Draiman defintiely gives me that impression too live, but I actually found his signing was better than I expected (I had low expectations from him going in) so he didn't totally turn me off although he just has that smug cockiness that I'm not a fan of type of look.

Just wanted to share.

Saw Disturbed yesterday at MSG. It was their first time playing in MSG and the show was pretty good. Some emotional moments (they played tribute to some fallen friends like Chester, Chris Cornell and others).

I don't know who was on stage with them, but they had a second guitarist for a few songs, which was nice. Draiman still sounds awesome.

Awww, man.  I checked the setlist for the MSG show.  They played Stricken and Ten Thousand Fists?  Those were the ones I really wanted see the most at the Forum show, last month, but they didn't play it.  They only played Land of Confusion from the Ten Thousand Fists album.

Yea looks like they added those songs recently to the set which is awesome for people like myself.

So that concert was a first for eating lobster and crab at a metal show.  My friend got hooked up from his brother in law with suite tickets for last night and this suite had a seafood buffet.  I was eating lobster tails, crab legs, some of the biggest shrimp ive seen, and sushi.  It was sooo good.  I'm hoping some of my video of the buffet came out well too  :lol

Damn...you lucky. I couldn't imagine eating that at a metal show haha.

But yeah my cuz went to Disturbed and they didn't play Stricken or Hold On To Memories. He did say David did jave a cold though, so it was a calm set.

Looking foward to the video...

I timestamped it for a nice shot of the food spread  :lol

I'm so mad though, my camera had an issue during the Disturbed set so I had to use my phone for the end of the video, which isn't terrible but doesn't have the 30x zoom which is useful when you are fairly far away from the action.  My mic also caught me singing a bit during Prayer and it's pretty bad

I used to really think he was a dick.  He's come a long way.  I find him to be so much more likeable now.  I put this moment as my #10 top concert moments from 2019 because I thought it was really cool for him to spot something wrong in the mosh pit and explain how you should treat others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THqF_w_UynQ&t=35s  I find that type of action to be very respectable.  Him being very likeable these days is a reason why I will continue to go to their shows as I expect to see them twice this year.
