Shabutie > Coheed

I have a friend who actually believes this.
I bet he thinks it's ironic and cool.

But seriously, Coheed > Porcupine Tree

I agree with Coheed > PT.

Granted, I'm not a big fan of PT or the overrated musician known as Steven Wilson, but Deadwing is a really good album.

Every time someone uses "overrated" in the same sentence as "Steven Wilson" a child in Africa dies.

I put PT above Coheed every day, but Coheed comes right behind PT so I don't have a problem with these statements.

Not a surprise, but it's official, Michael Todd is no longer a part of Coheed.

On another Coheed related note - What the fuck is up with the videos/teasers they keep posting on their Facebook?

Their next album maybe or one of those 2 songs they're doing for compilations.

If they can make a better album than YOTBR we might be looking at another GA1 or SSTB, quality-wise.  That would be fucking sweet.  Long as they don't work with Barresi and Ross again.  YOTBR has great songs (with one exception) but the production style doesn't quite work for them.

I wonder if they hold any clues as to what the concept of the next album will be. Now that the saga is complete, they could do a "spin-off" of The Amory Wars, a new concept that's completely unrelated, or maybe even a normal album with normal songs that aren't unified by a story at all. I'm very interested to see what direction they go in.

I'm not quite sure how I'd feel with a stand alone album. I'm not even quite sure why, but I would personally be much more interested in either a completely new concept or an Amory Wars related album.

Last I heard Claudio still isn't certain of what they're going to do regarding the next album lyrically.  He's said something about stories running parallel to the main saga, or an album about Sirius Amory and the discovery of the keywork, but I don't think a standalone album is in the cards.

That's good, because I agree with Alex. Maybe a sequel/continuation of My Brother's Blood Machine? That would be cool.

Its not as terrible as a lot of people make it out to be, but I do have problems with it.  For one, you can barely hear the bass in a lot of the songs. :P

I don't usually take serious issues with production, so I may not be the best to give an opinion on this, but I don't think it's bad at all.  At times it's a very minimal bother when it feels like there's not enough "space" in the sound but it's definitely not production worth making a fuss over.

You're right. 10 standard 3 chorus songs and a song that cuts out right when you think the epic is coming makes for a great fucking album.

The engineering on Year of the Black Rainbow is quite bad.

Considering Coheed have written plenty of songs with 3 choruses and nothing really making them especially special, structure-wise, I think its silly to hate YOTBR for hating "3 chorus songs."  I mean, with the exception of Made Out of Nothing, all the songs on YOTBR are on par with or better than those on NWFT, and "The Black Rainbow" is awesome.  I'm so glad they played it live for the SSTB shows (and that I have a live version I can listen to :D)  "Here We Are Juggernaut" is my favorite from it.

He's not just hating cause they're 3 chorus songs, if you'd read the rest.  I agree, its snuffed out.

Yeah, how dare people like music that follows the standard conventions and structure of song writing in this day and age. Absolutely appalling.

My biggest beef with Good Apollo 2 and YOTBR is that they seemed to lose the "fun" of previous C&C albums. That was one of the things that initially drew me into the band, the upbeat, fun feel while still maintaining a proggy sound and sometimes dark subject matter.
