I really don't care if it's conceptual or not. I just want the terrible songwriting of the last album to be gone.
The Afterman albums were phenomenal except for the last few tracks on Descension which were just ok. What happened?

Agreed. Last album sucked big time. Total dog shit. Just give me good songs

Domino the Destitute, which for me holds the crown for most overrated Coheed song!

Yeah, their last album was complete garbage. I think I rated it a 3/10. Still looking forward to the new one.

Totally! I mean I love this band, and probably consider them my fave band of all time, but Domino is not even in my top 30 Coheed songs. It's fine and I don't hate it but for me it's nothing special and they have SO many superior songs!

It's up there with Al the Killer, when it comes to overrated Coheed songs imo.

I'm sure I would've done a stellar job and got myself kicked.

But seriously, Al the Killer is a middling Coheed song at best. I love this band, and all their albums, so even their middling songs are better than most bands best.

We all have those songs though right? The sort that, when played live, the crowd goes nuts for and you're just like "This song, really? I'd rather hear *lists ten songs off the top of your head that you'd rather hear*".

I know we have a brand new song to talk about and such, but I'm going to push that off to simply say that Domino is absolutely one of their best songs.

So yeah, new song!

I like it, it feels like pre-YotBR Coheed again. I really need to listen to the lyrics properly but it fills me with great hope and I'm sure it's going to be better than their last. I assume this will be the first track. I normally prefer an intro to be separate from the actual song, I don't want to get bored of the intro and want to skip it to get to the actual song.

Either way, I am super pumped for this.

Sounds very similar to Domino. Need a few more listens to decide whether I like it or not (as with any Coheed song honestly, I don't think there's been a single one that clicked on first listen  :lol)

Same.

I think Welcome Home (being the first Coheed and Cambria song I ever heard) and Dark Side of Me are the only ones that clicked on first listen.

I've seen evidence around that the Prologue is indeed going to be a separate track.

The new album is out in 9 days and is going to be on heavy repeat (along with the new Black Peaks, released the same day). In the spirit of a new album, getting to know it and ranking it, here is my ranking of all C&C's albums:

1. Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume I: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness
2. Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume II: No World for Tomorrow
3. In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
4. Second Stage Turbine Blade
5. Afterman: Descension
6. Year of the Black Rainbow
7. Afterman: Ascension
8. Color Before the Sun

Let's be honest they're all great. I'm a little sad that CBtS hasn't had much staying power in the 3 years since it's release.

Here's mine:
1. Second Stage Turbine Blade
2. Good Apollo I.
3. Afterman: Ascension
4. IKSoSE:3
5. Afterman: Descension
6. Good Apollo II.
7. YOTBR
8. CBtS

Also, the new track "Old Flames" is really fun. Gonna be glorious live for sure.

I love all their albums except for color before the sun. They dropped the ball with that album, but their track record up to that point was solid, so I won't hold it against them.

And its looks like they are back on track, so its all good.

I liked The Color Before the Sun, but Year of the Black Rainbow does nothing for me at all.

1. In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
2. Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness
3. The Afterman: Descension
4. Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow
5. The Afterman: Ascension
6. The Color Before the Sun
7. The Second Stage Turbine Blade
8. Year of the Black Rainbow
And if spirit's a sign,
Then it's only a matter of time

So super hyped for this new album! It's going to be pretty much on constant repeat over the next week I reckon.

As my favourite band they've never really let me down (although TCBtS was a bit of a low point) and I can't wait to see what the return to the concept will bring. I just never tire of C&C. Period.

I'm trying not to overplay the singles as I want the album to feel fresh, it's tough though. Anyone got a copy yet? I know some people have received their pre-order or found a shop selling it early. Jealous! I'll have to wait for Spotify as my pre-order has been delayed.
