I've started working on a bulldog model.  I'll post updates as I have time to work on it.  Here's were I'm at now.

Cool. How long have you been doing 3D for? (and what program?)

Cool. How long have you been doing 3D for? (and what program?)

On and off for a few years.  I worked through a character modelling book for Blender a couple years ago then quit for a while when I got too frustrated with being able to make things look right.  Then I moved to Art of Illusion for a while and had some good results with that.  But I'm now back to using Blender again.  I like the new interface (I found the old interface way too cumbersome).  Plus there are so many video tutorials out there that answer all my questions.  I've become pretty comfortable with just the basic modelling in Blender now.  I still  haven't quite got my head around the materials and texturing yet, but I'll be looking forward to finding time to learn those things.

I actually started getting back into this because I just recently discovered the jMonkeyEngine 3D engine.  I'm a java guy and this engine is based on the OGRE 3D engine, which I played around with a few years ago as well.  I have a dream to build a simple 3D game and retire early.     But I've always had an interest in 3D modelling going back in the early 90's when I was in my undergraduate days. I focused on advanced graphics courses when completing all my computer science requirements.  I've been dabbling in it mainly on an academic level for a long time.

When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep just like my grandfather, and not like the screaming passengers in his car!

Sounds like fun. :hat Bringing your own 3D creations to life through code is like giving birth to a child, except without the immense vaginal pain.

The back legs look weird though.  I not going to worry with it right now cause I want to learn about materials.

I'm nowhere near as amazing as all these gorgeous color and CG (aided) art....and I too drool over pixelwork....but, I have sketchbooks full of tempting women- I draw mostly when I'm inspired and do tend to stick to a fantasy or vintage pin up style, as I used to design tattoos.

The latest thing I'm working on....

A few pieces of old inspiration, fairly light in theme:

Most of my stuff involves a bit of nudity though..... I must say this is one of my favorites, and one of the simplest. I like to imagine what she is thinking....it changes with my mood.

Anytime I'm in a slow state of art, or just at a low point, I design my signature in a different style. Here we have blood!!

PS: @penguinspanda thank god I'm not the only person that likes to draw naked people!!! Mas figure drawing por favor!

Thanks antigoon, I appreciate that!

@penguinspanda: Nice stuff! I too draw tons and tons of figures, as it's a pretty essential thing to artistic growth; that is, understanding how the human body works and being able to draw it.

@ThroughHerEyesDude: Really awesome signature.

I agree wholeheartedly. If it weren't for figure drawing classes for 5 years, I would not understand dick about the human anatomy apart from my face and hands.

Does anybody have any idea on how to get to work on designing clothes? I need to get a basic idea in my head for a costume to wear for my Titania monologue in June, and other than basic colours (greens, golds, and browns to work with my skin tone, eye colour and stuff) I have no idea what I actually want from it, and no idea how to start figuring out how I want it :/

The first part of a writing I've been working on. This is the very first draft of the very first part of it. I hope you all like it/give some constructive feedback!

The Legend of Leelanau County

Summer time. In Leelanau County, Michigan, that usually meant one of the two things: cherry farming or tourism. Today, however, was not the case for me. The July mid-day sun was heavily beating down on my back. "The heat wouldn't be so bad..." I thought "...if it wasn't so freakin' humid out".  It was only for a brief moment that the thought garnered my attention; I had a job to do. On my left hand was a black leather Nike fielder's glove and a baseball in nearly mint condition in my right. Today, cherries and tourism were not the job for Christian of Leelanau County, Michigan.

A nameless batter stood down range from me. The count was two strikes and two balls. Two well placed fastballs, one on the inside corner and one on the outside corner, accounted for the two strikes. However, a misplaced change-up and missed slider made up the two balls. Sweat was profusely running down my face in the hot sun, thanks mostly to my long thick dark hair keeping my head most annoyingly warm. Sunflower seed shells were scattered all about the mound and my feet. My left cheek was filled to capacity with the salty snack. As I stared down towards my target, I ejected another shell from my mouth and fixed my coveted and worn New York Yankees hat upon my head. I liked the hat tight, it kept my hair out of my eyes. One last time I wiped the sweat from my brow with my right forearm and refocused the intimidating stare I carefully cultivated at the batter. After a couple of quick pitching ideas were suggested, the decision was made for the pay off pitch - fastball, down and away. Planting my right foot down forcefully, I went into my wind up. Left hip guiding my left foot forward, I pivot my body and sling a fastball as hard as my body will allow me to throw. "WHACK!" came from the stacked logs of an old dead tree as the baseball crashed against. A perfect strike.

It was the last baseball I had on me. The elation of the perfect strike was quietly subverted by the thought "Crap, where did all of the other balls go?" I carefully tip-toed through my backyard, dodging where my dogs had used the bathroom over the previous weeks. As I carefully collected the balls, I gave a quick glance over my patio and at the backdoor of my house. True to form, my biggest fan, Sophie was standing there staring at me. She was a yellow-lab, with a golden fur coating that glistened in any light. At less than a year old, she was a puppy in the truest sense of the word. I waved at her with my glove hand and gave her a quick smile. Usually she just watches me pitch outside, but this time she was wagging her tail impatiently at me. "I guess it's time for me to go back inside". After entering the back door, Sophie runs to grab her favorite blue ball and brings it to me. I have no excuse now, she caught me red-handed throwing a ball outside and she wants to play. Before I get the chance to clean myself off, a game of catch with Sophie completes the ritual. And it was just that - my summer 2011 ritual of pitching.

That's it for now, but I'm fairly proud of that. I know there are parts that could be worded better, but I think the visual it paints is fairly humorous.

Thanks Stonestef, I'm one of those reckless people who always draws in whatever pen is laying around- never was one for sketching, so things like that tend to happen (part of the reason I never finish anything), but I can definitely say I'm improving!

@ Heretic, Funny, I went to about 2 semesters of AI here in CA, and took a total of one preliminary figure class- Our professor wouldnt even let us place the 'skin on the bones' to say, and made us spend the entire semester doing frame work with cylinders and movement lines....I was so frustrated it put a complete distaste for 'art education' in my head and I never finished art school. I have since refused to use models or reference when drawing. When the mood hits I just draw whats in my head, the emotions and setting kind of naturally inspire the movement- but not without its flaws as Stonestef pointed out.

I must upload some of my darker stuff, and my male pieces (mostly werewolf in nature) sometime. Heres a few older pieces. Believe it or not I do not lean towards the fae and angels....haha- thats just usually what people commission for their tattoos!
