I make my friend lock up his pit bull in a separate room when I go to his house. He thinks I'm being silly. I'd like to keep all four of my limbs, thanks.

Bassett hounds are awesome.  There used to be one that lived in our neighborhood.  His name was Buddy.  He was the king of the neighborhood.  Such a cool dog.

My first dog was a basset hound, and she was a total bitch. I much prefer my brother's pitbull.

But pit bulls owners will always defend them to the death.  Which might come from their own pit clamping down on their throat.

My thing is that it always seems like the only people who own pit bulls are the people who want them because of that reputation for savagery (and then name them Cocaine).

Weeell, Cocker Spaniels can be nasty with children and generally are not recommended for families with small children.  I'm not sure about collies.  I had one when i was a kid.  Labradors, however, are just as gentile as I've ever seen.

Yeah, they may be more vicious but they're not nearly as dangerous as pitbulls.
