The Wizard Appreciation Thread
« on: July 11, 2011, 10:11:19 PM »
I'm the youngest of people to remember this movie coming out... but this is the best movie commercial ever.  I remember the excitement building up to the release of Super Mario Bros. 3, and this showed it.  It also showed me, once I had the game, where the first whistle was!!  So, yay.

Check out these awesome clips:

He Touched My Breast - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAJk_gdXwrs

OH JUST WATCH THE WHOLE MOVIE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt4C4pJvC6A
I don’t know what to put here anymore

It's sooo baad.

The local classic video game store has a Power Glove t-shirt. Has the power glove and The Wizard quote on it. I really really want it.

Sorry splent, that movie is awful.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Sure it's an awful movie, but for those of us who the movie was geared toward when it came out (I think I was like 9 or 10) it's pure magic.  Seeing Super Mario Bros. 3 was a be-all, end-all moment for me when I was a kid.  I loved this movie.  It also helped that I was big into Wonder Years at the time too, so having Kevin Arnold in there didn't hurt one bit.  And isn't Christian Slater the older brother and Beau Bridges is the dad?  Not a bad cast.  Also, I was kind of a sensitive kid anyway but the whole thing with the messed-up little brother and the death of his twin sister or whatever really, really bummed me out!  I'm pretty sure I would cry when the bully kids stole his lunch box and we find out that it's full of mementos of his sister.  :'(

Local place. Not sure if they bulk ordered off some website that carries them, or if they had them custom made.
