Last night, after a two month battle against a tumorous brain cancer, my mother's long-time boyfriend passed away.
He was the most intelligent and noblest person I have ever known. He shared my passion for languages and literature; he was always reading a new book each week, let it be about Handel's or Bach's lives, or some calculus, or some stuff I never understood (for his physics lessons at one prestigious university here -he was the dean of his faculty). He was a great virtuoso of the violin. He participated in many choirs. Influenced the formation of many classical musicians. What a great Civil Engineer. What didn't he accomplish?
What am I going to remember him for? For loving my mother more than anything. Oh, boy. Yesterday I couldn't stop shaking. I'm sure I'm going to miss you, Pepe. God bless you.
