Sigur Rós

So I just watched Heima for the first time and it was absolutely incredible.

Discuss this amazing film, and the mindblowing music the band creates.

Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

Heima is so lovely that it's pretty unfair to every other documentary dvd by any band ever.

Anyway, *appreciates* because this band is goddamn amazing.

Untitled 3 is better I think, but 8 is definitely one of my favorite Sigur Ros songs.

Yeah, but it's never even a fair fight when you throw Untitled 3 in.

Yes.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. G. Sertillanges

I've really beene digging "Olsen Olsen" lately. Such a wonderful song

4:50 and on is my favorite Sigur Ros moment.

I think Ny Batteri is their best overall.

UNTITLED #8
(the apocalypse)

Their best song.  And an absolute monster live.  When we saw them years ago, that was their last song, and there were numerous instances during it where my brother and I just looked at each other with "HOLY SHIT, THIS IS INCREDIBLE" faces. :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

My other favorite Sigur Rós song. :coolio

i find it weird this topic was made right now, actually. i find Sigur Rós to be such a winter band; just isn't right to listen to ( ) if it's nice and warm out (maybe because of the album art).

i'm waiting for that anniversary release of Ágćtis Byrjun. should be sexcellent!

I'd say either ( ) or Takk... is my favorite. Takk was my intro to the band a few years ago.

For whatever reason, though, for as long as I've listened to and have known about them, Sigur Ros have never been a band that I've ever felt a desperate urge to listen to. I've never considered them more than a "good" band, either. They've always just been a band that I enjoy listening to on occasion and never regret when I do. But hey, that could change one day.

Even though Sigur Rós hasn't become one of my absolute favorites yet (still need to check out the rest of the discography more), but ( ) is one of my favorite albums ever, and would easily be in my top5.
The emotional journey it takes me on is just fantastic, and I haven't come across a more emotional album.

When the world is ending and all the skies burn, ( ) will be the album I play as I sit in the middle of an abandoned park near my house and greet the raging inferno as it consumes the earth.
