Oh, the irony ... It's been reported that Chris Hansen, host of 'To Catch a Predator,' the controversial 'Dateline' show that uses hidden cameras to trap would-be perverts in sting operations, has been caught cheating on his wife ... in a sting operation using hidden cameras.

According to 'The Daily Mail' Hansen found himself on the receiving end of his own hidden camera tactics after the married NBC anchor was secretly filmed on an illicit date with a blonde television reporter 20 years his junior.

He was the subject of a four-month long sting operation conducted by 'The National Enquirer' after he allegedly began an affair with former NBC intern Kristyn Caddell, a 30-year-old Florida journalist.

The Connecticut-based Hansen has been spending more time in South Florida recently for work, reportedly investigating the disappearance of James "Jimmy T" Trindade for 'Dateline.'

Hansen has worked for NBC for two decades, but became famous with 'To Catch a Predator.' Launched in 2005, the show is devoted to the subject of identifying and detaining those who contact people they believe to be below the age of consent over the Internet for sexual liaisons.


The show's producers work with online watchdog Perverted-Justice, whose volunteers pose as underage girls offering sex on the Internet. But when the potential sexual predators arrive to meet the girls, they find themselves confronted by Hansen, his film crew and sometimes the police.

Neither Hansen nor NBC has yet commented publicly on the alleged affair.

Though of course it's not like it's with a minor as commonly depicted by his show, still...just wow.

Yeah,  I though the guy was a real douchebag, so I'm rather happy about it.  I only wish they'd staged a confrontation with his wife for us all to watch.

humans are unreasonable creatures, its almost impossible to put reason to them.

and Im not saying its okay to do that, its not okay at all. But it shouldnt be a huge scandal like this when it does happen, its just sex.

She was of legal age, the men he was exposing were paedophines. I guess it was wrong of him to broadcast all of it so I guess its only fair its happening to him now but he was doing good work.

They weren't actually pedophiles, assuming the woman was claiming to be 15 or 16 and that it was limited to just that case.

No, the irony is in that has he (helped) caught many people going to do something considered sexually immoral, and he himself is now caught doing something sexually immoral. Not the same specific moral law being broken, but it's still obvious that there is similarity to both kinds.

Didn't catch this before.

Actually, I heard recently that people in positions of power, so people in managerial positions and such, are more likely to cheat rather than it being limited to gender. With women getting into positions of power, they have become more likely to cheat, but only as much as men.

Actually, what I'd consider ironic is that he made his bones by exposing people in a very public medium.  He got rich by holding up alleged wrongdoers as fodder to a voyeuristic public.  When he was engaging in his own bit of naughtiness,  he was exposed for his transgressions in a very public forum by the people who pretty much mastered that art 40 years ago.  Personally, I hope there was absolutely no advanced warning for anybody before pictures were plastered all hell over the tabloids.

Took me a few times to read this because the grammar was so bad  , but I'm pretty sure the predators think they know the kids they're after are in the 13-14 age range.
