Weird Al Thread v. NEW ALBUM!
« on: June 28, 2011, 03:24:09 PM »
Hey everyone! Weird Al's new album came out last week and I only just found about it today!

Here's the tracklist:

1. Perform this Way (Parody of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way")
2. CNR (Style Parody of The White Stripes)
3. TMX (Parody of Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me")
4. Skipper Dan (Style Parody of Weezer)
5. Polka Face
6. Craigslist (Style Parody of The Doors)
7. Party in the CIA (Parody of Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA")
8. Ringtone (Style Parody of Queen)
9. Another Tattoo (Parody of B.o.B.'s "Nothin on You")
10. If That Isn't Love (Style Parody of Hanson)
11. Whatever You Like (Parody of T.I.'s "Whatever You Like")
12. Stop Forwarding That Crap to Me (Style Parody of Jim Steinman)

Appreciate the master satirist.

I've got all his albums on my I-pod.  Great to see live too when he changes costumes for each song.

I never expected him to do the costumes so it blew me away.  I've never laughed so hard at a concert and who doesn't love watching him with his accordion!

I've only got a handful of his songs downloaded, but I love them, his stuff is genuinely funny and witty! Need to check out more methinks.

for albums, I'd definitely suggest Bad Hair Day. That has some of his funniest stuff, although he is very consistent, and all of his albums have plenty of awesome tunes on them!

Is that the one with Amish Paradise on it? I think I heard the whole thing aaaaaages ago (like, in the 90s) when my friend had the CD. I remember really enjoying it, but I think it was just that song that I downloaded.

Not so much a fan anymore, but I still love Poodle Hat from time to time.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

I absolutely love Weird Al and listen to him often.  For my money, his best albums are Bad Hair Day and Running With Scissors, but he's got great songs from every era.  Really need to check out the new one.

I enjoy some Weird Al from time to time. I mainly like his stuff from the 80s and the 90s. Since I don't listen to the songs he's parodying on the newer albums (Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Miley Cyrus) the humor is kind of lost on me nowadays.

I could see this putting me off the new album a little bit as well.

I thought it would too, but they're songs that I have heard playing on radios in stores and such, and the parodies are of things that most people that leave their homes at least once a year should know about.

For example, the Lady Gaga song parodies her wacky costumes.

Also, the album is filled with songs that are from other decades. With Queen and Doors parodies, you really can't go wrong.

Yeah, I thought this video was funny, even though I have not heard the original song.  I'll be getting the album soon.  Also, pretty sure I've already heard a few of these, as he released them online over the past couple of years.

Weird Al is good to listen to when I want some comic relief, but not much else.

The video for Gump is hysterical, though, for sure.
