Touching the Void - film
« on: June 28, 2011, 06:40:21 AM »
I finally got around to watching this film about the ascent and descent of Siula Grande in Peru. It's about a man - Joe Simpson - who survived three days having fallen on descent without food or water crawling through a crevasse and across a glacier with a broken leg to reach base camp.

I'm not that into the "dramatic reenactments" genre but I might check this out.

It's very well produced. It reminded me of Peter Jackson's ideas from for Lord of the Rings when they're flying over mountains with ethereal music.

There's another book he did after which got turned into documentary called "The Beckoning Silence" about the Eiger.

Great movie. Maybe not as good as the book (which is excellent), but still. And, Boney M for the win!
