so Tigran Hamasyan is a brilliant jazz pianist that I played a lot with when he was in NY a couple of years ago.. one of the most unbelievable genius musicians I've ever encountered.

i came across this video of this Berklee dude drummer covering some Tigran in a slightly more 'metal' setting, and the result of some of the filthiest riffage i've ever heard.

Very cool, love it.

Holy jeez. Went and found the original piece of the first they played - "Red Hail". I don't listen a lot of jazz, but it definitely doesn't fit my preconception. This cover was meant to be, because I think this tune makes way better metal than it does jazz...

Wasn't especially intrigued by the first half of the video, but the second half was kickass.
