Wendy Time is one of my favorites on Wish actually. So darn catchy. I probably rank End higher, but Wendy Time would probably be my second favorite from it.

Does anyone else feel that A Perfect Circles album Thirteenth Step is like the modem Disintegration?

Hey man, the '(Unknown)' new song in the set-list is apparently called "Step Into The Light". The reports/pictures I saw in craigjparker.blogspot.com about yesterday's show seem to confirm that.

I'm surprised they usually play "Sleep When I'm Dead" from the last album. I've never liked that song. To me, "This. Here & Now. With You" is a much nicer song. They did play it some years ago, so I always thought they would keep it.

Enjoy your show! It seems like they'll keep playing a lot of stuff from Wish, so I assume you'll like that :)

I prefer Underneath The Stars from the last album. It's a personal one to me, so maybe it's not a fan favorite. But yeah, when I saw that they played half of Wish, I was really happy. Still wish they would play Friday though, I just love that song. They may add it though, Craig said that they usually play with the setlist a bit. But I'm still very excited to see The Cure

Well, on the 2nd show a few days ago, they played "Doing The Unstuck". And yesterday they finally added "Friday I'm In Love", as well as "This Twilight Garden" (which I understand is a b-side from Wish). So yeah, they are indeed playing a lot with the setlist (yesterday's show, they also played 2 songs from Bloodflowers).

Seems to me that on each show they are paying some sort of tribute to a specific album:

1st show: Wish - they opened and ended the main set-list, and all in all played half of it.
2nd show: Disintegration - they opened and ended the main set-list, and all in all played most of it (10 songs).
3rd show: Bloodflowers - they opened and eneded the main set-list.

Obviously, they'll have to repeat albums at some point on the tour, but it looks to me that this will be something special for fans at each show. So, hopefully you'll get Wish at your show.

Wow, I'll have to get more familiar with the band's discography if I want to recognize the songs at the Helsinki show in October! :lol I'm only familiar with 6 Cure albums (the trilogy, Seventeen Seconds, Faith and The Head on the Door).

Yeah, but didn't they play like only 1 or 2 Wish songs? Or maybe the last couple of shows featured many of your favourite songs?
One of my Top 3 songs is "Bloodflowers", so yeah, I agree - yesterday's show must have been really cool.

Yeah I'd really like a Bloodflowers-heavy set, myself. The only two albums I definitely like more are Disintegration and Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me

They have so many good albums, I'll be happy either way I think. BUT, since Disintegration is nr1 that would be dope. I like Bloodflowers but I wouldn't place it that high.

Obligatory album rankings time:

1. Disintegration
2. Pornography
3. Faith
4. Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me
5. The Head on the Door
6. Seventeen Seconds
7. Wish
8. The Top
9. Bloodflowers
10. Three Imaginary Boys
11. The Cure
12. 4:13 Dream
13. Wild Mood Swings

But I would say the top6 are amazing and 7-10 are really great too. It's really only the bottom 3 I don't care for that much. But the top6/7, especially top5 are all amazing.

Yeah, that is true. But I also love songs like A Night Like This, Lullaby, Pictures of You, and Fascination Street and would love to see those. I think because they haven't played in Minnesota in 20 years, they're more likely to play songs like that because they've been gone so long. But you're right, they did play half of Wish which would be absolutely amazing. If they could do that and play the songs I mentioned, we'd be set.

That thing you said made me remember that they first played in Argentina in 1987, and then a 2nd time 26 years later, in 2013.
When they came in March 1987, they only had 6 albums out (Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me hadn't been released yet). That's insane! It's like, The 2013 Cure was a completely different band/set-list than The 1987 Cure.

This (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ljd6DwNJjFw) is a short video recorded while the guys and chic from Utopians (the opening band for the 2013 show in River Plate) were visited backstage by Robert, who gave them a bottle of ¿champagne? as a present. Funny stuff :)

So I'm not that knowledgeable about The Cure I want to get more into them. The one album I know and really like is Disintegration. I'm wondering what albums I should listen to next.

I'd say Pornography is my second favorite. As dark as Disintegration but more post-punk and less synth-heavy. Or you could go for Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, which is pretty synth-heavy. Not as dark as Disintegration, but really good anyways.

I forgot to post about seeing them. It was one of the best shows that I have ever been to. They put on one hell of a show and they sound so good. I got the Wish set, as opposed to the Bloodflowers or Disintegration set. What that means, is what songs open and close the main set. So at my show, Open and End were the bookends to the main set.

Open
alt.end
A Night Like This
The Walk
Push
In Between Days
Just Like Heaven
The Snakepit
Pictures of You
The Perfect Girl
High
The End of the World
Lovesong
Dressing Up
Lullaby
Fascination Street
From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea
One Hundred Years
End
Encore:
It Can Never Be the Same
Want
Shake Dog Shake
Encore 2:
If Only Tonight We Could Sleep
Charlotte Sometimes
A Forest
Encore 3:
Never Enough
Burn
Wrong Number
Encore 4:
Hot Hot Hot!!!
The Caterpillar
Let's Go to Bed
Close to Me
Why Can't I Be You?
Boys Don't Cry

It was just so much fun to see them and surreal, since they haven't been to Minnesota in 20 years and I've been a fan for 7 of those years. So to all of a sudden be in the same room as them and to hear these songs, it was just so much fun. And Simon's bass sounds so great live, Fascination Street, the seats were just vibrating. And I also became reacquainted with songs that I had kinda forgotten about, like Push and In Between Days. The former, when they started playing, the guy next to me just went crazy. One of the other things that I found kinda funny is that when they main set ends and they start the encores, there is still about an hour and a half of the show left. At the end of the show, Robert said "See you again!" Hopefully that doesn't mean 20 years again...

I wasn't crazy about the Twilight Sad like other people have been. I just didn't like it as much, the guitar feedback just started getting old after awhile.

Bloodflowers is great, but whereas Disintegration and Pornography are both 10/10, Bloodflowers is more like 7.5/10. Probably their last great album though.

More in the vein of Disintegration or Bloodflowers. It was sad, I think it's about his mom's death. The bass riff is killer though!

There was a stupid amount of roadwork which I hadn't anticipated and I ended up getting there just before The Twilight Sad was wrapping things up. What I heard seemed alright, but not exactly my cup of tea

How do you guys interpret the lyrics to From The Edge of the Deep Green Sea?

I always thought it was about him and his wife or a relationship where the guy is really in love and would do anything for her. But someone pointed out to me that it more sounds like a negative relationship where he gets hurt

Saw them live again yesterday - second time. (First time was in 2016)

Fantastic show and might even have been better than last time I saw them. Robert's voice sounds as good as ever and didn't show any signs of aging to me at least. The biggest positive surprise for me were the new songs. I love The Cure but their output after Wish hasn't been great for me. Wild Mood Swings is probably their worst (though it has a few great songs), Bloodflowers is pretty good but then the self-titled and 4:13 Dream are just kinda 'there' for me. Not awful albums but the kind of late career albums you mostly ignore in favor of the earlier stuff. But these new songs they played showed a lot of promise to me and were some of my favorite moments of the show. Alone and Endsong had a similar Disintegration vibe, both being around 7-9 minutes with a long epic intro and then some great lyrics and overall a nice mood. And Nothing is Forever felt more like a Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me song but was also really nice.

Got a few nice surprises like The Figurehead (first time they played it since 2008 I believe) and The Drowning Man (first time played in Europe since 2011) but overall a nice mixed setlist that covered a lot of ground. The full setlist: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-cure/2022/scandinavium-gothenburg-sweden-43b113fb.html

Only mild complaint I have is that I have now seen them twice and I have not gotten Plainsong. It's one of their more frequently performed songs and I love it, but two times and nope! Maybe third time's the charm.  :lol

Indeed! And also having a few slots that rotate every night as well as moving the songs around within the setlist itself. Some nights you get songs XYZ as the first encore, next night one or two of them might be earlier in the set. Keeps things interesting. :)

MEGA BUMP!!!

The Cure is touring North America for the first time since 2019, their first Pacific Northwest shows in at least 5 or 6 years, and since that one was a 3 day festival with 50-odd bands I didn’t care about seeing, their first proper headliner in my area since god knows when.

They are doing something kind of interesting in an attempt to get around the second level ticket sellers. You can register to get into a lottery to get first crack at tickets. I entered the lottery, but I don’t know if I’ll actually get tickets or not. They are supposed to text me next Tuesday. But I definitely want to go to the Seattle show on June 1st.
