As a big Seinfeld fan . . . the last season was a geek's wet dream come true.  Looking forward to the new one!

There are only three shows that I will watch on television; obviously Seinfeld rules.  The other two are Trailer Park Boys and the amazing Curb Your Enthusiasm

So I'm finally getting back to watching these.  I quit watching them a couple of years ago, coincidentally, the episode right before his worthless cunt of a wife leaves him.  Now I've restarted season 6, cuz, well the Blacks and all.  Thankfully, it doesn't take long to get Susie involved.  God damn I love that woman.

Here's where I have a big problem, though.  Sometimes LD is a fantastic character.  Sometimes he's an idiot and/or an asshole.  I love this style of comedy, and farce in general,  but it really only works if you like the character who causes all of the situations to begin with.  Most of the time,  Larry's a decent guy who, often through no fault of his own,  winds up in bizarre situations that he's tragically ill-equipped to cope with.  He's terrible at explaining things and he's an appallingly bad quick-thinker.  This is hysterical.  The problem is that occasionally he causes all of the problems himself by being a genuine jackass, and that really blows the comedy value to hell.  They're still great enough writers to make the situations good (usually), but it really takes it from a great show to barely passable one when they go this route.

Consider the first two episodes of season 6.  In Meet the Blacks,  he attempts a ploy that's stupid from the get-go, and after it fails miserably for very obvious reasons, he attempts it again the next night.  It's just not funny when he brings the failure on himself.   The following week,  all of the problems are caused by other people.  Jeff jerks off on his blanket (and holy shit was that a great idea).  Danson gossips and cheats with the anonymous donation.  The well-stacked dry cleaner loses his jersey.  He was the hapless victim in each of these situations,  and naturally,  he compounded them with hilarious results.  Weak episode, great episode.  It's a real shame they weren't more consistent.  Next on the list is the roadside memorial, which was one of the episodes that really turned me off the show in a big way.
Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

The roadside memorial was involving Funkhouser's mom, right? That's probably one of my favorite episodes.

Anything with Larry David in is a hit for me, and I love Curb, like Seinfeld, I own all the DVDs and I'm very excited for the new season to air over here in the U.K. My only criticism is, I felt season 4 and 5 had a slight dip in quality, but then they brought on The Blacks, especially Leon, who really brought some new life into the show. Also agree with what was said about Season 7, a Seinfeld nerds wet dream!

Anyone else got love for Richard Lewis? When him and LD go improv, especially on the earlier seasons, it's pure gold. Also got a lot of love for Jeff.

I don't think so. I'm some of the previews for this season and behind the scenes and stuff, I've seen him on set when they are in New York.

Larry asks Leon why he drove to NY from LA instead of flying and Leon said "I don't fly baby, they need Photo I.D for that" :lol

I'm re-watching season 6. Gosh I fuckin hate Cheryl but as usual this show rarely puts emphasis on flaws of other characters than Larry.

I fuckin love that kid. He needs to be a regular; Larry's interactions with anyone remotely homosexual is always so amazing to witness. But a child? That's just metal.

No new season news but Larry appeared on Conan the day before to promote The Three Stooges. I didn't know he was in the movie and now I surely wanna see it. Here's Larry explaining his recent hilarious TmZ incident. The full interview is funny.

I can't believe I only just now found out about this thread. I started watching from the beginning a couple of months ago and am now almost halfway through season 6. It is a great show, just perfect for my sense of humor.

just started watching season 8 recently.  The one with Richard Lewis' burlesque dancer girlfriend (the one with the ample bosom) was great.

Funkhouser had one of the funniest lines I've ever heard: "Have you set a day aside when you're gonna finally look at her face?"  The reaction of the other guys was priceless.

I've been watching random episodes as of late (I've seen all the seasons). I forgot how golden some of the older episodes were. Over the weekend I watched the episodes with Crazy Eyes Killa and Wandering Bear (numb vagina).

Love the show.  Hated the season schedules.  You were never quite sure if a new one had come out if you aren't paying close attention.

It is also the show where I became more aware of JB Smoove.  That dude needs way more roles offered to him.  I don't know if he is a leading man, but he is pure gold as a supporting actor.  He should be in so many more movies / TV shows.
