Is DTF being a tad shaky?
« on: June 08, 2011, 04:59:27 PM »
Is it just me or do others often get the "This webpage is unavailable" screen when they try to browse DTF and end up refreshing the page until it loads?  It's been happening a lot to me lately and is rather annoying but it doesn't happen to any other websites so I don't think it's my internet.

I blame ricky
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

It happens every now and again and it only happens on DTF. I've had it happen in multiple browsers on multiple machines.

I just have to refresh the page to fix it though.

Happens everyday.
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

What browser are you using?  I seem to have this problem frequently when using Chrome.  But not when using IE.

Daily, multiple times during the day as well. Chrome may be the problem.

For Chrome, switch off the DNS pre-fetching option in the advanced preferences. Thank me later.

I have another tech issue question, when I quote someone, in the posting box when I type its very shakey , the screen moves and I cant see the lines I am typing, they are under the bottom of the posting screen, when I type , each key stroke will make it pop back up , but its goes up and down wildly. its only when I quote someone, and a longer quote seems to make it worse, I try to maximize the screen size but it doesnt help, its part of the reason I make so many typos.

any ideas?????

I can't find where to do that.  Please be more specific.

Don't have Chrome here but if you go to preferences you should see three different tabs, one of them is "advanced". Look for a checkbox with the text "Use DNS pre-fetching to improve page load performance" or something like that. Turn it off, it works like a charm if you experience "unable to load page" errors often.

Try compatability mode if you're using internet explorer. It's the icon that looks like a torn-in-half sheet of paper JUST to the right of the dropdown menu arrow at the end of your browser's address bar.

Yeah I think it's a Chrome problem but I can't find the DNS pre-fetching option either.

OK it's taken me ages to find it in patch notes but it looks like they changed the name of the option to "network prediction" or something like that (I have it in Spanish), these are the steps to find it:

- Go to preferences
- Click the advanced tab
- In the first batch of options (privacy) the third checkbox should be either something related to DNS prefetching or to Network prediction. Switch it off.
