come down to south florida in late july, add in the humidity, and tell me what you experienced is hot.

kthx

I was in south florida in March but that wasn't so bad. Mid 80s at the warmest. Whereabouts you talkin about? You could've probably suggested some great places to eat and whatnot around Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale. :hat

Florida feels good in March (I live in south Florida as well). Summer is insanely hot.

I don't know about NYC, I don't live there. I live in New York.

(Believe it or not, it's a whole STATE. :o )

and yes, it's freezing over here. From September through March we consider it a warm day if it hits 50F (10C).

Went on vacation last August in the Seneca/Finger Lakes region, passed by Corning, Ithaca, Watkins Glen, Glen Falls, (and some others) then followed back up north into Quebec to visit some family.

It was quite lovely, especially the lakes! They reminded me a lot of Northern Ontario, but with a lot more hills/mountains.

Woah, Jen. You're from upstate NY? When I joined up I was told the only other person from northern NY was like, MetalHead666 or something. Where abouts are you from?

Also, I had the lovely privelege of working construction the past two days. Shade becomes a wonderful thing in that heat.

Luckily the temperature here (Chicago area) went don't since last night's storms. It's been like 100 degrees for the past 3 days. That's what you get for living in the Midwest.  +100 in the summer and -20 in the winter.

As much as I would have liked to explore a little bit of NYC today, I'm sitting on the train back to Boston, with nice AC inside. I really was feeling completely exhausted yesterday night, I think I had a mild case of heat exhaustion. No desire to repeat that episode today in even higher temperatures.

Yesterday, I worked with my buddies company helping them bring 4 vending machines to two stops and the heat was brutal and no ac in the cube truck.  I was done after the day.

I realize what's it's like in hot and humid climate.  I lived in Oregon for 10 years and a couple of those years it got up over 100.  No A/C either.  Brutal!  I've lived in Arizona for last 26 years and in 1990 it got up to 122.  Yeah, it was a dry heat, but still I have never felt anything hotter than that.

Dry heat for the win. I remember one day when I went outside and it was blisteringly hot to the point where the air itself wasn't comfortable to breathe. Weird thing about it was that since there was virtually no humidity I actually felt more comfortable in a roughly 95-98o dry heat than I would in an 85o heat with the usual New Orleans summer(i.e. 8 months out of the year) humidity of 85+%.

Try til you hit the swimming pool. In Houston they say that?  Now I'm all confused.

BTW, Boston managed to seamlessly go from 98 degrees heat to severe thunderstorms. Well, supposedly that will cool it off.

:hat don't gotta tell ME That, but when you're on the internet and not talking to fellow NYers you have to say that, otherwise they presume you're in NYC.

There's NYC, and there's upstate. That's it. :lol

But yeah, you get some freakin brutal winters, then. My husband used to spend a lot of time north of there in a place called Sandy Pond. Man, that was a heck of a winter up THERE in... I think it was 1992. We drove on the lake with a truck... people were ice fishing and used to it but it freaked me right out!

Yeah, I love telling people upstate New York and they just think NYC anyway. I've found describing the area as "lower Canada" is pretty helpful.

I don't remember '92. Given I'd have been a bit over a year then. But a couple years back we had about 300+ inches for the season. This is pretty much the frozen north.

I'll be 20 in September. I just feel old realizing that Space Jam came out about 14 years ago.

And I did not. That's 6 hours of driving that I didn't have the money for. Nor the driving chops to really handle.

AH ok for some reason I thought I might've read that you were there. Next time come to the Binghamton area and we'll roadtrip from here to save money perhaps. I often have one of the boys along (ages 16 and 18) and meet up with Nick on the way. :hat
