O.O

I AM EXCITE

It's nothing too revealing, but the imagery and music were awesome in Steven's typical cryptic fashion. Hopefully it appears in one of the songs.

Insurgentes was undoubtedly a great album, but I didn't really feel any personal connection to it like I do with PT albums. Not sure how excited I am about this one then, but not very at the minute.

I kind of understand what you mean MG. I love Insurgentes, but I've never really made an emotional/personal connection with it either. I think its because SW just kind of adlibbed the lyrics and, while making it much more experimental, doesn't really make it easy to connect to.

But I'm still more excited for this album than any other record in the past few years.

Listening to Insurgentes for the first time while going through the big art book is one of my most memorable music experiences ever.

I love Steven Wilson, but...apart from the first track, nothing on Insurgentes has really clicked with me.

I agree, lyrically, Insurgentes does nothing for me, though there's nothing wrong with the lyrics per se.  The music however is incredible and I can't wait for the new solo album.

Insurgentes is probably my favorite SW-album, I'd take it over FOABP and Signify (both my favorite albums by PT).
When I think about it, Ghosts on Magnetic Tape might battle Insurgentes for the top-spot.

People who don't think the lyrics are that great.  Sorry, still a bit exhausted from Rush last night.

If I could make any request to SW's musical output, he should explore the lighter side of things a bit more. Time Flies was such a breather amongst the usual lemon juice dropped into eye mood, which can be nice but a bit tiring at times.

He talked about that in Insurgentes. It's the extreme positive and negative moments that stick with you, but moreso the negative, which is he concentrates on that more.

That. Some of us LIKE things like that. I like happy things as well, but songs that are sad and so emotional like a lot of SW's songs just really connect with me. He's said in a couple of interviews that he isn't an overly negative person, he just knows that a lot of people, like himself, find beauty in sadness.

If SW started writing happy songs, I would still listen to him and love every thing he does, but I think it would be a lot harder for me to connect to his music.
