One of my favorite artists. She deserves her own thread.

She does a fair amount of experimenting with trip-hop and electronics, and she also performs organic drum-and-guitar music, but none of it is cliched and generic. Her lyrics are always introspective and gorgeous, and among my favorites. Her voice is awesome, too.

Near Infinite Possibility is her latest album, and it focuses more on guitars, and it's probably her heaviest album yet. It's awesome, though, and a step-up from her previous album, which was good, but didn't grab me as much as her other albums.

As far as introductions go, it's hard to pinpoint a definitive sound, but Nexus is by far her best. It's layered with deep, dense walls of electronics and trip-hop, but it's never overwhelming or aggressive. It's the perfect album to get lost in, like some peaceful ocean just washing you away. You should let it.

Anyway, yeah, discuss plz.

Her other albums are excellent, too. I'd rank A Perfect Dream just barely below Nexus are her best album. Cocooned and White Birds are also great. Red Yellow Sun is a bit unimpressive compared to her other albums, but it's still solid. It's probably the last album of hers that I'd recommend, though.

Just saw this thread and I checked out "Nexus", wow what a great album. I've spun it twice today already, I can't wait to check out her other material.

Check out A Perfect Dream next. It's all great music, though.

I've been listening to "Near Infinite Possibility" twice today, and it's really amazing!
Favorites this far: Flames, Morning Time and Invisible Satellites.
This stuff is actually slightly more rock-ish then I had thought, I feel like some of the songs I have enjoyed the most have been more towards the softer 'scaled down'-way, but overall this album is rather great.

Yeah, Near Infinite Possibility is probably her most guitar-driven album. I was a bit skeptical when I just listened to the samples, but I knew right after the first song that Sarah could pull it off perfectly.

I just got Red Yellow Sun, I'm two songs in and it's stellar. Seems very different from Nexus but in a good way.

Yeah, all of her albums are pretty different from each other, but they're all fantastic. She doesn't have a single misstep.

I had to take a break to watch Top Gear but the album is great, although it's forgettable when compared to Nexus to me.

It's definitely not as good as Nexus. In fact, I might rank it last in my preferences of her albums. I still love it, though.

I recommend A Perfect Dream next. Probably my 2nd favorite after Nexus.

Well Raven as we both dismiss each others musical opinions as irrelevant, I figured I'd at least give one of your "chick artists" a listen. Call it an olive branch, call it being bored on a Thursday morning or call it nothing.

She can sing. It's pretty and full of of emotion and all of that, but as you've pointed out with the "power metal" genre there are just so many similar artists. I guess if it's your preferred genre you can find uniqueness in it, but I can't ......my loss I guess.
