Eh, they are harmless.  Loud and all over the place, but harmless.  Even still, before they'll be gone in a few weeks at the most, it is inevitable that I encounter someone who is being swarmed by a bunch and is swatting their arms around like they are on fire.  I just pray I am not that person. :rollin

I think it's cool when you see their molted shells on trees.  I haven't heard any this year yet, but it'll probably happen soon.
