They have the 'math' part down alright (though arguably in a different way than PTH or THA), but they come from a distinctly metal vein rather than hardcore/metalcore. So really they're just progressive/technical metal.

Listening to these guys in the first time in awhile. :metal I had seriously listened to Kezia and Fortress over a hundred times each when I first got them so I was pretty burnt out on them, but now that it's been so long, they're amazing me once more.

Yeah, there's a pretty funny video update on their Myspace blog.  And the little snippets are sounding mean.

Isn't that the one where Rody Walker just dances around like a maniac?

AKA every other video involving the band?

Although admittedly it doesn't much matter to me, as I still haven't listened to Kezia. >___>

August 30th, they begin recording. I'm not expecting it to be out until early 2011.

I thought both bands more or less fit under the mathcore banner...

Gojira is more or less tech death, and Meshuggah are pretty much in their own genre, as no one really does what they do.  Neither of them really have any -core elements at all.

I feel like ranking all the PtH songs.

1. She Who Mars The Skin Of Gods
2. Goddess Gagged
3. Wretch
4. The Divine Suicide of K.
5. Bone Marrow
6. Sequoia Throne
7. Blindfolds Aside
8. Bloodmeat
9. Divinity Within
10. Palms Read
11. Turn Soonest To The Sea
12. A Plateful of Our Dead
13. Goddess Bound
14. Limb From Limb
15. No Stars Over Bethlehem
16. Bury the Hatchet
17. The Dissetence
18. Heretics & Killers
-----------huge dropoff, these last two being the only Protest the Hero songs that aren't freaking brilliant
19. Spoils
20. Nautical

That was really damn hard to do. It's probably not even accurate.
Can't wait for the new album whenever it comes out.

Spoils is one of my favorite Protest The Hero songs. After I got tired of all the other songs from listening to them 200+ times, Spoils jumped in front of me and was like "HEY! HEY! HEY FUCKER! LISTEN TO ME! LISTEN! HEY! CHUCKLEFUCKING LISTEN TO ME! I'M AWESOME!"

And it was.

Yeah it's frustrating, with a band with two amazing albums and one good one, I got sick of it after listening constantly for so long, using it as a staple album lots too.
