Well, I just listened to Fortress, and despite my distaste for scream/growl/etc vocals, I f**king love this album! Gonna give Kezia a spin now.

Horrible band. I mean, some of the music sounds cool but like always, that retard on vocals ruins it all.

What power metal do you think I listen to? I suppose you don't pay attention to vocals right?

Wow, I'd only heard Sequoia throne, and Spoils is pretty awesome too. I don't like his scream-y vocals that much, but his clean vocals sound kind of cool.

The vocals took me a bit to get used to, but, the music was so awesome that I eventually did. Then, after a while, I started to like the vocals. Weird. (Actually, it goes under the exposure effect in psychology, the more you hear/see something, the more you like it)

Just came in here to say Fortress is superb and Kezia is really good.

also, the cat in Wretch never fails to make me smile

I'm sorry I can't listen to The Tiny Warrior from Ace Ventura 2 sing. It's ridiculously bad, and comparing him to any power vocalist is equally bad. Gene Adam is more tolerable.

Kezia is one of the best albums ever.
Top 3 in order:
She Who Mars The Skin Of Gods
The Divine Suicide Of K.
Divinity Within

Though the absolute best part of the album is Turn Soonest to the Sea's outro.

I need to get Fortress sometime.

My top 3 would be:
Blindfolds Aside
A Plateful of Our Dead
Turn Soonest to the Sea

Kezia is an amazing album.  Hard to believe it's their first album, recorded when they were all about 19 years old.

Also, Nautical and Heretics & Killers are the only kinda meh songs. Nothing too memorable in either of those.

This. Definitely in the lower half of the album, but I think Nauticus is great.

Heretics has the awesome 'textbook' chorus which is pretty freaking awesome I think.

For me its:

1. Turn Soonest to the Sea
2. Blindfolds Aside
3. Heretics and Killers

and as for Fortress:

1. Wretch
2. Limb from Limb
3. Bloodmeat

I'm listening to them now for the first time. Listening to Fortress, NP Bone Marrow. I'm highly impressed. I'm particularly happy that there's an abundance of clean vocals. Their name and the fact that Wikipedia deems them "mathcore" had me worried that they would sound similar to Gojira and Meshuggah, neither of which I particularly like. I'm pleasantly surprised though. They have a very original sound and I'm digging it. I now have a temporary new favorite band, good shit. :tup

I thought both bands more or less fit under the mathcore banner...
