i'm on run through number 5. aforementioned bass parts not only jumped out at me but jumped me from behind; i think i may have a dislocated shoulder.

as for the vox, have the harsh vox really been dialed down that much?! i hardly notice it, save for maybe less growls.

There are harsh vocals on what, two songs?

And there are plenty of 'moments', just because you haven't heard them the first few listens... :justjen

just finished that 5th run-through. paid more attention specifically to the vox; still didnt seem that bad. maybe i need to throw in fortress to recall how much 'harsh' was there previously. or maybe i just need to lay off the pot.

I like it, but it does kinda start strong and then lets off.

Nothing wrong with pointing out a forum rule violation, but when

Me too. I don't want to spoil it until I hear it through my stereo at home in all it's glory. I will make the walls shake with my first listen.

I think the stronger songs are sprinkled pretty evenly myself.

Have heard it through 5-6 times now, but it doesn't really click yet. Lacks much of the catchyness from Fortress imo. When finally a cool part comes along, it's over way too quickly...
C'est la Vie, Moonlight, Dunsel, Termites and Sex Tapes are maybe the songs that sticks out in a good way.

I've given it several listens and this might be better than Fortress.... I'm not really sure why it isn't clicking for most of you.

Second. And I stand by my 'moments' comment. There don't seem to be any of the orgasm inducing singalong passages of which Fortress was so abundant. I think the production may have something to do with it too, the whole album seems very flat, although that may just be pre-release quality, and the CD might sound better.

It's definitely not as catchy, but I think it's the stronger album now. Less highs, but less lows. I definitely like the new musical direction too, though I wouldn't mind some more growls.

It's transcoded to hell, it's awful quality. Wait for the CD.

Despite my early distaste for it, I've still listened to it 40 times, so I can't deny that it's a grower.

As much as I really like the album, none of the songs really stand out from each other. Fortress had songs with a similar sound, but they were definately distinct and each had its own unique twist in some way that made it memorable. This album seems to not have that. After a while I'm thinking "Ok, is there anything else you wanna try"?

(I like the album btw, not bashing it or anything)

I think much the same - the music is more samey (partially due to the lack of growling definitely), but I prefer the new style, so i'm not complaining :)

I definately like the new style they're going for (while I love growls and stuff, I think they really pulled the album off without having any), but there needs to be a bit more variation within it (and I'm disappoint since I know they especially can pull it off).
