That sucks. I have about 20 or so Gamecube games collecting dust on my shelf. If I could throw them to you through my monitor, I would.

If you still have your Gamecube controllers you can play them on the Wii.

Yeah I know, but I've beaten most of them and I have no desire to play them again. :p

Oh and by the way, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is the best game on the last two Nintendo consoles. Get that. Trust me.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

Ok, back on topic.

Wii GAMES

My son is 8, and he really enjoys all of the LEGO games, they're very well done and even I find them pretty fun, though other than the theme changes they're pretty repetitive. THe other Star Wars games are quite good. Force Unleashed I and II

I have been playing James Bond:Golden Eye now for months and I'm hooked playing online. There are only 8 maps or so, but lots of fun playing.....I strongly urge you getting that one.

Mario Kart is a must, but make sure you take your anti-seizure meds because it is an assault on the senses.
Take care everyone - Bet you all didn't even notice I was gone.

Going to mention Resident Evil 4 again. Because it's one of the best games I've ever played and the Wii version is the best them.

I'd just like to mention that there is a Metroid Trilogy game for the Wii.

It includes Wii updated versions of Metroid Prime 1, 2 and 3.

*smack*

In any case, these are what I would regard as fun games that you dont have access to anywhere else:

Super Mario Galaxy (both)
Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Sin and Punishment 2
Goldeneye (There are better shooters granted but this is still solid, and the best on the wii)
Red Steel 2
House of the Dead: Overkill
Dead Space: Extraction

Also some games you should buy if you havent played them on anything else:

Cave story
Bit Trip (all of them)
Resident Evil 4
Okami
World of Goo
One of a hundred Megadrive, snes, nes and wiiware games.

It's out of print. If you want a copy, you have to pay out the ass for a used version. I saw one at Gamestop yesterday for $75.

Not too unreasonable seeing as you get three games for it.

That's balls. I'll have to keep an eye out for a used copy then, I guess. There's a chain of pretty decent used video game stores in my area; they might have it.

One of the reasons I go back to my Wii is for the Virtual Console. A plethora of retro games to choose from guarantees you'll never be bored.

I came here to post this. The Metroid Prime trilogy is genius and a must-have for any video game fan. And yes, you'll have to do some hunting to find a copy, but I bought mine used for ~$40 online (eBay or amazon, can't recall).

Just finished Twilight Princess. Being a huge fan of the Zelda franchise since the original came out, I find this game a little meh. I hate to say this, but I found the plot kind of confusing. I never really knew what I was doing, outside of whatever my next immediate goal was. It was a fun game, but didn't have that 'wow' factor that Ocarina of Time did.

Bought it a few days ago!

It came with Mario Kart, which I love. I also bought Wii Sports, which got old fast, and Super Mario RPG, which I don't like that much. :lol Oh, well. Can't win them all.

I saw the comment on the wii classic controller and although I don't own the Wii I do have a controller I use with my emulator programs which is the Logitech Rumblepad2 and it has the same configuration as the Wii Classic Controller. In a nutshell I do like the N64 Controller the best but this Logitech controller is a LOT better than the Gamecube controller. A LOT better. It does take time to get used too however I would much rather use my controller here than the Gamecube controller for ANY GC/SNES/NES game.

That was a huge selling point for me as well, initially.

But then a year later I started fixing up my older consoles/replacing/buying them, and now I never use my the virtual console. I also put emulators on my wii so if I want to play one of the games I own, I don't have to pay for another copy or wait for it to be released on the VC.  :P

Still, if you don't have the older consoles and don't feel like putting the time, effort, or money into tracking down the games, the virtual console is a great alternative. I remember when I used it they would always release shitty games and would hold out on the good ones that everyone wanted... haven't checked it in awhile, I wonder what games have been released.

Also I dunno about anyone else, but the best part of the wii for me is the multiplayer games. I very rarely play video games when I'm alone, so the games that I tend to want/buy are the ones that are fun to play with a couple of friends. That seems to be what the wii specializes in. The only games off the top of my head that I ever play(ed) for the wii on my own were Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing, and Twilight Princess. All the other games I have were fun to play with others.

You can even play DVDs on your wii. I don't know why that function isn't on normal wiis if the hardware is actually capable of doing it already.

That said, I don't use my wii to play DVDs since I already have a bluray player and have no real need for it.  :P

I have an external hd hooked up to my wii that allows playback of a few file formats (one being .iso).
