One of my favourite moments from the new album :

In Rise Above The Tides - when Matt sings " We're Lost Forever , Were Lost Together " and then it goes up a tone and he sings it again with the harmonies.

Awesome moment.

Oh and that Meshuggah-ish riff that comes in at about 2:30 in " Beneath The Sun " is pretty sick too.

Fucking finally! :hifive: Still their best album for me, the title track is pure brilliance.

Got the new album today, will have a listen to it tonight or tomorrow and report back with my thoughts, but from the songs already released I probably will like it more than Vengeance Falls, so that's something.

I have yet to listen to Shogun the song. My walk ended before that. But yeah - Silence In The Snow > > Vengeance Falls and it's nowhere near as heavy.

The production is WAY better.

My top 5 right now :

1. In Waves
2. Shogun
3. Silence In The Snow
4. Ascendancy
5. Vengeance Falls

So Shogun is number 2 even though you haven't heard the full thing?

Lulz.

If you listened to Master Of Puppets and then listened to 9 songs off Death Magnetic - you wouldn't be able to decide which one you preferred from that ?

I rate Trivium's albums more closely than the ups and downs of Metallica.

Not sure if you have the Shogun bonus tracks, but make sure you get those if you don't, just as good as the album songs.

Shogun would be my second fav, after Ascendancy.

I honestly don't know where I'd rate the new one.  It's just so different, unique and mature.

I like Shogun and IN Waves mix of clean/harsh vocals. Ascendancy has too many harsh vocals for me and i'm not keen on Matt's harsh voice back then.

I love his harsh vocals, always have, and possibly my fav singer when it comes to that department.  That's why I'm so surprised I like this new one so much.

I love the mix of cleans and harsh on those two albums too.

Wasn't really digging the new album at first but it's definitely grown on me a lot.

Favorites are: title track, Until the World Goes Cold, Ghost That's Haunting You, Rise Above the Tides

Even though I really like this album, I hope Trivium don't abandon the harsh vocals for good.

I like this new album, good enough.  I'm not one of those guys that will complain about the lack of harsh vocals.  I, for one, don't care much for it if it dominates the song.  It's fine in moderation like in the songs from In Waves though.

Favorites, thus far.  Blind Leading the Blind, Rise Above the Tides, The Thing That's Killing Me, Breathe in the Flames, and The Ghost That's Haunting You.

The Thing That's Killing Me is situated deep into the album that it seems to fly under the radar but it's an incredible tune.

This is one of the best sounding albums I've ever heard.  It's not overly compressed or loud and you can turn it up and it doesn't distort, still sounds nice and clear.  The drums sound insane.

Yeah I'm still digging this album too. Over the last couple days I've had a choruses from Silence in the Snow, Dead and Gone, Pull Me from the Void, Until the World Goes Cold, The Thing Thats Killing Me,  and Cease All Your Fire stuck in my head at different points in time.

So, like half the choruses from the album stayed with me, :lol  definitely a great album in many ways: song writing, chops, production, but definitely also catchy choruses!

@TriviumPaolo Hey. Just wondering. Did you record SITS to tape ?

 Paolo Gregoletto ‏@TriviumPaolo
@david0akes nope

¡Charlie! ‏@david0akes
@TriviumPaolo Oh alrighty. i thought you may have done since Mike recorded the last Slash album to tape and SITS sounds really good.

 Paolo Gregoletto ‏@TriviumPaolo
@david0akes the tape saturation plugins are pretty close to the real thing now.

Yet another drummer switch.

https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/trivium_debut_new_drummer_paul_wandtke.html

Am I missing something here? Last four albums, three different drummers. It all seems to go something like "needed a switch to keep the band going. Survival of the band, necessary switch for the energy."

I swear this release and the one for Nick were pretty close in reasoning.

Wait Trivium has more songs than just Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr? (for real I only knew a few songs of Ascendancy)

I heard some of their newer songs (from In Waves and Silence in the Snow) yesterday when a friend had them playing, pretty cool stuff, they've become like a Rise Against with heavier instruments in their latest album, and In Waves (title-track) is fucking awesome.

Catchy but good. Better than Vengeance Falls. Not as good as In Waves.
