Two listens over the weekend, and I'm very impressed.  I found the 2nd half to be better than the first, and The Darkness of My Mind was particularly wicked.

Not up to it yet, but it's not surprising.  Their bonus tracks are always incredible.

This for me, is Trivium lite.  The heaviness in the riffs are defintiely there yet unfortunately, the screaming is not.  BUT..........Matt's cleans have improved a hell of a lot and so far, they actually carry what the band are doing here.

Yes. It's hardly the pop metal album other people are calling it. Great Production. I like it instantly - which is more than can be said for Vengeance Falls !

Favourite chorus ? Rise Above The Tides.

I definitely agree on the production, the album sounds great. I've had Dead and Gone stuck in my head for a couple hours now, I love that little vocal hang he does after the chorus finishes and goes back into the main heavy riff, great stuff.

As a fan since Ascendancy, yes, the growls are an integral part of their sound.  As I said though, even though they are not there, the melodies along with Matt's vocals are strong enough to carry it that it doesn't really need them.  I was fearing thinking too myself "Man, it would have been better if this verse was growled, or whatever."  But I don't.  This is a good metal album and another evolution of the band.

The thing with Trivium is that every album has been very different and I hope the continue to evolve and not get stuck in this style they are doing now.  last thing I would want is the screams to be gone, but then the band sounds samey over time.  That's a perspective from a long time fan, so I'm going to have opinions where as you guys can just enjoy.

Cease All Your Fire and The Ghost That's Haunting You are incredible.

I'm a sucker for a catchy melody and the chorus to " Rise Above The Tides " is ace.

Verse vocals for Dead & Gone too  :metal

Until the World Goes Cold is pretty amazing too.  Matt's vox in the pre chorus are particulary amazing.

That's the sort of territory I fear them getting stuck into album after album now going to this style.  I'm not saying it's like that, this album is still a lot more mature and varied then anything by those two bands IMO.

Ya never know - the next album might be like 10 " Chaos Reigns " just with clean vocals and a few harsh vocals peppered about.

I can't see them going more and more poppy. They do something a bit different every time and have very heavy influences.

Lots of good solos on here.  Corey really has stepped it up.

A bit of a shame that the booklet doesn't have lyrics either.

Yeah, if you regulary get your music digitally, there's no reason to get the cd.  I just like buying the cd's personally.

I almost never buy digital albums but it was a lot cheaper since I'd bought all the singles.

Complete my album was £7 so... :)

I am liking this more than I thought I would when I heard it was mostly clean vocals.  As others have said, Matt has gotten a lot better.  It makes me want to listen to The Crusade again to see if I may have overlooked that one.  It's been a while.

Either way,  :tup

Pretty much agree with this Mason.  Crusade isn't as polished and mature as this one, especially in the song writing department.  But it's a worthy album IMO, I enjoy it.

This new album though is a cracker. I also didn't expect to enjoy it so much considering it's all clean vox.

My main tiny gripe with the album is that the choruses *can* sound a bit similar and the pre-choruses go to the V chord in a few too many songs.

Other than that :tup great album !

The producer worked on the last Slash album. I wonder if Trivium recorded to tape. It might explain the big - less distorted sound.

Yeah Elvis produced it, he's done the last couple Alter Bridge albums as well, which are fantastic. He usually can get some really good drum and guitar sounds.

I kind of understand what you mean, but I didn't think any songs sounded too similar.  But the whole album does sound consistent.

The sound of the album is incredible.  I noticed it's not really loud like most cd's, and that's good.

I tweeted Paolo that the sound is great and he said " We really honed in on the sound ".

He also replied to me before that " we were unhappy with the loudness of Vengeance Falls "

It wasn't just the loudness, the whole thing just sounded awful.  Glad they can look at their work and critique like that, and improve it, good stuff.

Until the World Goes Cold is one of the best songs they've ever done too.  It's unbelievable, and my favourite I think.

Faves from the new album are :

1. Rise Above The Tides
2. Dead & Gone
3. The Ghost That's Haunting You
4. Beneath The Sun
5. Until The World Goes Cold.

But I think the only track that isn't up to the best on the album is Pull Me From the Void.

I like pretty much everything here, but IMO, Beneath the Sun is the weakest.  I would have made Beneath the Sun and Breathe in the Flames the bonus tracks and promoted Cease All Your Fire and The Darkness of My Mind to the regular album.

Top 3 are;

Until the World Goes Cold
The Ghost That's Haunting You
Cease All Your Fire

I like that the album isn't bloated.  I'd rather have 43 minutes that are packed than a 70+ minute album that is a chore to make it through.

I keep wanting to come back to this album.  I really need to get the bonus tracks...I wish I would have been more careful pre-ordering.

Get onto it ASAP mate, two absolute stormers.  Even with the two extra tracks, it's not tough to get through at all and easy to spin again.
