Well, that was an odd music video. :|

Watched it again, and I think I see the problem with it. It's a cool concept, but the video tries to create an atmosphere that doesn't match the song. The song and the visuals clash in a bad way.

Of course, I still love the song. But I wish they had just shot a "traditional" video with the band performing the song. Instead of this abstract artsy stuff. Although, I must admit it's cool to see the...thing...on the album cover at the end of the video.

*cough* Shogun *cough*
Shogun is probably one of the best albums I've ever heard in terms of riffs and guitar work, along with Ascendecny. The only downside to Shogun though is the vocal melodies during the verses/choruses just don't sound too memorable imo. An amazing album, but I can't for the life of me sing the songs in my head after listening.

Not even these?

"I will try, to pour all of myself into this life, before I die"

"Time will not heal, all of your pain, I cannot wait for it all to come crashing down"

"I've opened up my eyes, seen the world for what it's worth, tears rain down from the sky"

"I will never be what they want me to, I live by my own path in life, no turning back now, I won't be held down, forced into a shallow grave built upon their empty ways, there's no turning back"

And that's just the main ones.

I understand what you are getting at here.  It's a song which is somewhat stripped back to their roots so a performance vid would have suited it fine.  I guess maybe what is to be continued may put things together for us, we'll wait and see.

Also an observation I picked up on is Matt's look.  They were saying in interviews how much they wanted to go back to a more Ascendancy style, well Mat went one better and he now looks like he did on that album.

I really like the way they're introducing a fresh minimalistic look to the standard metal scene. It makes it really artistic

Does anyone know approximately how much the special edition pre-order will probably cost?

Two new ones played live 'Black' and 'Dusk Dismantled'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6H6NLnB5xdc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91DCxle30ug

I think Black sounds pretty dull, and I could barely make anything out on the second video.

Don't you just hate it when a band releases an okay single before the album's release so people get a bad impression of the songs and end up hating them even though they're quite good?

Gosh

I'm not hating them, but this is just an 'okay' song as you said. Just hoping the rest of the album is better.

Black sounded pretty good, but you really can't judge until you hear a studio version, really.

And yeah, I really dig In Waves, it has some great vocal melodies. It's a tad repetitious, but it's still a solid song overall. People hating on the upcoming album for this one song make me laugh.

Songs sound awesome.

Kind of tough to tell obviously in the video but i'm sure they are going to kick ass once the album comes out!

Preview sounded good, but I'm not paying money to be part of that fan club. Guess I'll have to wait until they decide to premiere it for everyone.
