And why would you even want to.  Some of the entrants do have some bad ass beards and mustaches, though.  Most of the freestyle ones are pretty silly, but the natural and defined ones are pretty impressive.  If you go to their website, you can see all of the categories and the current winners of each.

Interestingly, the Germans had dominated the thing for years, but Americans have really taken over the last few.

It's hair like any other.  It's subject to drying out, it needs to be washed regularly, etc.

Dear facial hair wearers and appreciators,

I've made it to Trondheim, Norway and today is the big day of the World Beard and Moustache Championship. Beard Team Canada has reassembled and is looking forward for Round 2 this afternoon. The festivities are being held at the Prinsen Hotel and begin at noon. Anyone that would like to come cheer on the team and take in some of the most wild and extravagant styles are welcome to come out. We are definitely looking to meet some locals and enjoy our time here in this lovely city.

I was there! Lots of beautiful, nice people with crazy-ass beards. My brother-in-law competed (didn't win anything though). I took like 300 pictures Had no idea that guy was someone from a band I've heard about! He didn't get to the top three IIRC. But he was nice.
