18-year old drummer from NY
« on: May 09, 2011, 02:56:08 PM »
Hey guys, my name is Ben and I've been a huge DT fan for most of my life. I'm also a drummer, and love playing technical/progressive music. I'm a fan of Portnoy, Mangini, Minnemann, and a host of other phenomenal drummers.

I have recently been invited to play for the Brooklyn-based, technical/melodic metal band "Dyed In Grey." Travis Orbin (ex-Periphery, Sky Eats Airplane) did session drums for their CD that is currently in production. Here is an HD video of me covering one of their songs, feedback is IMMENSELY appreciated!:

They are in the process of releasing a full-length album that is being produced by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me), and I think you guys will really enjoy the music. While i haven't been officially announced, I feel obligated to spread the word about these guys anyway!

There is so little respek left in the world, that if you look it up in the dictionary, you'll find that it has been taken out.

Uncle Ricky wants YOU to show some respek

Yeah man, great cover!

I liked the open-handed playing as well; it's always nice to see.

Thank you all for the feedback!

Yeah, that is a Joey Jordison snare. Gets the job done and actually sounds pretty decent! In terms of my cymbals, I have a mess of brands and unfortunately they don't all sound that consistent with each other, but they'll do for the time being!

If you dig the music and want to see videos of Travis Orbin playing the real songs, check out this link:
