Oh yeah it's Easter...Honestly didn't even notice. My family has never made a big deal about it.

I get to spend easter alone in my room as the only other person in my house went back home for the weekend. Woo.

For me, it usually means a big day with immediate and extended family. Instead I will be at Lowe's helping basically no one buy flooring.

If I had to pick one holiday to work every year, it'd probably be Easter. Working Easter is still much better than working Christmas Day or Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, New Years, or Fourth of July. The only thing that happens during Easter is mass and terrible dishes that include lots of eggs and Mayo. All favorite things of mine obviously.

:lol Funny you mention Lowe's, I was supposed to skype with my parents right now but my mom said to wait an hour cause my dad had gone to Lowe's to get something. So you might get the occasional crazy person in to buy flooring on Easter.

Yea, Easter is a pretty lame holiday, don't see the big deal working on it.

It sucks your missing out on family. I love working on these kind of holidays (I work at home depot) because I'm getting paid twice as much for half the work.  :lol

I hate that companies have gradually drifted toward the "We'll be open on the holidays" mentality.  I'm not talking about the people that must work (doctors/nurses, skeletal police crew, gas station attendants); I'm talking about businesses, grocery stores, and the like - things that don't NEED to be open if you just plan accordingly.  I make it a point to make sure I get everything I need before the holiday because I don't want to be the jerk that justifies someone else working the holiday.  Unfortunately, there are people who don't realize this and that's why you're at work Tick.  If not enough people showed up to justify being open, we could have our holidays off.

TBH, I wouldn't have even thought a place like Lowe's would be open on Easter.  I hope you're at least getting double-time for it.

Thing is, king, is how you define 'holiday'

The United States government does not recognize Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur as holidays. The vast majority of the Jewish population does not work/go to school/etc on these days, yet everything else remains open.

But Christmas? Easter? Everythings pretty much shut down.

For me, Easter used to be spending time with my Dad's parents at some restaurant with a Golf course (back when I lived in Arizona). It was pretty terrible every year, so I can't say I miss it whatsoever. I mean, you try spending a religious holiday with Satan and her bi-polar husband.

I'd rather be working today. As a college student who works at Target and barely gets paid above minimum wage, I could use a few extra hours this pay period.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

If it's a holiday to your religion, and you're some worldly known religion - for this example I'll use Sikh - you shouldn't have to work on your holiday.  Your employer isn't familiar with Sikh holidays?  Well, there is this wonderful thing called the internet where such verification of facts could be done in seconds should you not trust your employee.

I personally don't celebrate Easter, but I'll defend anyone's right to celebrate it.  When I was near my family in Pennsylvania, I didn't want to work Memorial Day, the 4th, or Labor Day; and therefore I don't want to impose working holidays on others.

I'm working tonight but only because I'll be done with my family get-together at that point. I'm lucky to be in a position where they can ask me to work and I can say no fucking way if I choose to do so, even on holidays.

I went into work for a couple of hours today.  Those two hours will make the next 3 days much easier for me, and it's a lot more pleasant up there when it's just me, the cat, and a good concert or two (Queen-Rocks Montreal,  The Who-Isle of White).  I'll celebrate Easter tonight by watching Dawn of the Dead in honor of Zombie Jesus.

It's been a long time since I worked a holiday, 20 odd years maybe?  I feel for the people who do.  I personally like being with the family.

ZBomber, was playing the Xbox Kinect today and was out of breath after the speed running, javelin and boxing.

Lowe's was basically a ghost town all day. What a waste to bother to open for the amount of customers we had. If did feel like getting paid for nothing so that part was ok.

Sucks you had to work...

I spent the entire day relaxing with my family, but since we have a lot of little cousins and such, I had to partake in various Easter activities, haha.

Yeah, for some people, working holidays is just a fact of life. Especially retail and other service types of jobs. Does anyone not love working every weekend and Holiday while consistently getting Tuesdays and Thursdays off? :(
