The Papercut Disappreciaton Thread

Fuck I hate them.  Got one taking of a Pizza Guys flyer from my door, and the bitches hurt worse than knife cuts, something I'm somewhat familiar with.  Do ahead and dissapreciate. :censored

I was waiting for that one.  Didn't think it would be on the first post though.

I might be in the minority, but papercuts never bothered me that much. They sting a little bit, but other than a slight discomfort, it isn't too big of a deal. I think I'd rather be cut by a piece of paper than a knife, thanks.  :lol

When cutting yourself with a knife is a weekly occurence, you get used to it.

I don't find paper cuts to be very painful, but they feel very weird.  I once had a paper cut that didn't even draw blood and it bothered the heck out of me.

Paper cuts are bad.  In my opinion, splinters are worse.
"All great works are prepared in the desert, including the redemption of the world. The precursors, the followers, the Master Himself, all obeyed or have to obey one and the same law. Prophets, apostles, preachers, martyrs, pioneers of knowledge, inspired artists in every art, ordinary men and the Man-God, all pay tribute to loneliness, to the life of silence, to the night." - A. I'm reminded of the story where some lady paper cut her tounge while sealing an envelope, she developed an odd lump where the cut was a few weeks later, went to the doctor to check it out, the doctor makes an incision on the tongue, and a bunch of cockroaches come out.  It turns out there were eggs on the envelope.

I actually read up on why paper cuts are so sore the other day:

"Paper cuts can be surprisingly painful as they can stimulate a large number of skin surface pain receptors (nociceptors) in a very small area of the skin. Because the shallow cut does not bleed very much, the pain receptors are left open to the air, ensuring continued pain. This is exacerbated by irritation caused by the fibers in the paper itself, which may be coated in chemicals such as bleach. Additionally, most paper cuts occur in the fingers, which have a greater concentration of sensory receptors than the rest of the body."

I can't remember the last time I got a papercut. Truthfully, I don't even know how you get them. Seems to me if you're not clumsy with paper (or something) they should be relatively easy to avoid.

Paper cuts are nowhere near as bad as cardboard cuts.  After a few of those, you long for the good ole days of plane paper cuts.

When you deal with knives on a daily basis, knife cuts aren't bad at all since the sharper the blade, the smoother the cut.

Papercuts are the worst!

Once, when studying, I was changing the studied subject, and so I put down some books on the floor. I was barefoot and some loose papers were sticking out of the books. Five minutes later I became aware of an odd sensation in one of my toes. I looked down, and blood had dripped onto the floor. I wasn't even aware I had cut myself. When I had seen it is started hurting like hell, of course, as with all smaller wounds. It was weird.

So how often do you end up bleeding in people's food?

Actually there is very little knife work in the a la carte service.  All of it is done before opening.  I will share one grossw story though.  It was a busy Friday, many years back, and I was working the saute station.  At some point in the night, I had nicked my finger on something, but didn't notice it.  At the end of service, I looked at my hand, and had a trail of dried blood going down to my fingertips.
