This is why you never inform an internet message board that you have a daughter. It's best to just lie and say that you have a son.

Ninja'd... sort of.

At least that's what the Cosby Show taught me.

Guys let's chill out about lonestar's daughter

I'm sure she's a respectable and well mannered young lady and doesn't deserve this sort of talk.

god bless her theater nerd heart

lonestar I think it's time we had a talk
What?  She has a boyfriend, and is sexually active,

Out of curiosity, how do you know this? I'm curious to see how parents find these things out.

He probably asked.  Plenty of people successfully manage to talk to their kids about such things.  And I'm gonna guess that an old dead-head from California probably maintains better lines of communication than some hick from the Bible belt.
Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

Yeah, that's weird for me because I can't even imagine it. I never would have felt comfortable talking to my parents about what I was doing, just one day they stopped caring if I my girlfriend slept over.

I rarely speak to my parents about things like that.  I'm glad that they seem to not really care, I'd like to think that they trust me enough to not bother asking.

Or they're just afraid to ask or don't want to know.  I'd rather talk to kids and prepare them because no matter what parents saay kids will want to try(who doesn't) so I'd rather they'd be prepared.

What appalls me is seeing 8-year-olds in bikinis at amusement parks and water parks.  It's not so hot out here that your kid has to run around 90% naked.
Oh god, what's the big deal of kids running around 90% naked? They're kids. Here in Belgium it's normal to see little girls in bikinis on the beach or even just the bikini pants... And nobody makes a fuss or even cares if some five year old is running around totally naked.

You and me go parallel, together and apart

Yea.  I'm more disturbed by seeing parents dress up 6 year olds in pageants with all that makeup and gowns rather then letting them be kids.  It seem they are living through their kids on their fantasies in stead of what the child wants.

Guys come on now, let's be serious.

If anyone's going to be getting an arranged marriage to Lonestar's daughter, it's me.

I've seen that TV show on ABC or whatever it is with my girlfriend.  It horrified me and made me, once again, weep for American society.

Unfortunately, yes. Let kids be kids.  Stop living your life through them at an early age.  Live through them when they decide their own path.

I think I'd more just not want a daughter because I'd hate her friends.  :lol  I can't stand most teenage kids. (NOT DTF TEENAGERS OBVIOUSLY)
You see, if you can imprint your tastes in music and stuff like that onto a kid if you have one/ever have one, see, I was fortunate because I grew up listening to Metal/Rock/whatever my parents listened to..

Parents have an awefully big part to play, and a lot of parents don't always realise this :P

Begin your eyeball training now, because it is absolute torture.  I taught high school for six years, and in some ways it was actually a relief when I got riffed.

Yeah what struck me about it wasn't so much that as the fact of how vicious these parents were, all WIN WIN WIN.  I kept thinking all throughout watching that these parents were simply, irredeemably horrible people.

On that note I have a big problem with teaching kids at that age and in that context about winning and losing, because in some ways it says to them that if you don't win, you're not as good as the person who did.

I think I'm not going to encourage/teach my kids that winning is the way to go, but instead, that improving your performance/trying to beat your own personal best is the way to go.

Does that make sense? :s
