Spoilers.

The single player ending was fantastic, but I was a little distracted wondering how Chell didn't die. Still, it was too cool for that to ruin it.

Also, I think I liked this ending song more than Still Alive

Did anyone look at the Super 8 "interactive teaser?" It was really neat, I've never seen something like that before.

I also found it a bit weird. The thing that I found even weirder was that the portal on the moon was created in like 1 second while the portal gun doesn't work instantly but shoots a bolt. But those are minor details, it's still a cool ending. And the sentries making music were the best.

Cave Johnson is amazing  :lol
Yea, he has some incredible lines  :lol.

Yeah, Glados is one of the best parts of you just lost the game.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

There's something about the Portal timeline that bothers me a bit.

Spoilers

As far as I'm aware, Glados went online and took over Aperture on Bring Your Daughter To Work Day. At one point in Portal 2 you find a bunch of science projects done by employees' daughters for Bring Your Daughter To Work Day (all of the potato experiments and the volcano). One of the potatoes grew into some huge plant and is mostly blocking the cardboard presentation behind it, but if you zoom up on it you can see "Chell" written on it.

When did she do this project? I can't imagine she'd do the potato thing as an adult, but if she did it as a kid then how long ago was this Bring Your Daughter To Work Day? Was she kept in stasis for years before Portal 1 took place?

My impression is that it has been several years, yes.

I'm assuming that's all implied, yes.

Also I just finished the campaign for the first time. The very last couple of minutes were all hilariously brilliant. Loved every second of it. Now I'm going through my second play through with the commentary on like I did with Portal 1.

That is, unless someone with the PC version (or PS3, I hear works with Steam users as well) wants to do the Co-op with me. I really want to go through it sometime soon.

So I can officially confirm that btw, as according to the Combine OverWiki, GLaDOS took over the Aperture Science facility in 1998, while the Black Mesa Incident takes place in the vague year 200-.  Portal 2 is then said to be set after Half-Life 2 which is itself around 20 years after the Black Mesa Incident.

Sounds good. Makes you wonder what sort of mental condition Chell really is in.

edit: Wait, I don't think that works and one of us (probably me) is confused. If Chell were in stasis since she was a little kid at the Bring Your Daughter To Work Day then her body should have remained the same during that time (since she doesn't age from Portal 1 to 2)

Played the first hour or so tonight, and I've actually been laughing out loud a lot, way more than even with the first game.

My one minor quibble: I'm not really a huge fan of the overgrown, destroyed scenery. I kind of preferred the cleanliness of the first one. Oh well, it's still awesome so far.

She's a dangerous, mute lunatic.

Also I don't think she is in stasis (at the beginning of Portal 1), or at least that's not the impression I got.

I really hope when Half Life 2: Episode 3 comes out (spoiler - it' won't) that there is a small crossover between Portal 2 and Half-Life. Even something as much as dialogue about it would be so cool. I don't know, I fucking love things like that.

I'm guessing that the Borealis will be the most we get. Maybe some clipboards or something small referencing Aperture/Portal.

I was thinking something similar, to be honest. If I remember correctly, Borealis is a part of Aperture right? It'd be cool to maybe stumble across some files on a computer screen or maybe an audio log or something.

I don't know, but mother fucker I'd take down entire nations for Half-Life 2: Episode 3 right about now.

This, and CJ of course makes a reference to Black Mesa, but that's not so groundbreaking.  I would love it if Gordon met GLaDOS.

Personally, I was thinking something more along the lines of Chell being amongst a large group of refugees/survivors/something. But GLaDOS making a guest appearance would be so fucking cool.

Well I hate to break it to ya, but when I said Portal 2 takes place after Half-Life 2, the general consensus is that that means at least a couple centuries after...

Wait, really? I was unaware of this.

I guess that explains the mass amounts of lush fields at the end of Portal 2, instead of Combine everywhere.
