Musically I think it's better than Still Alive but, like you said, we knew it was coming which sort of lessens the impact / woah factor.

Yeah but weren't you one of the few other people on here who actually listens to JoCo?

As a JoCo fan I definitely like Want You Gone better. Kinda reminds of Space Doggity.

His work with Portal is all I've heard of his, unless I've heard other things and didn't realize.

It felt less like a cute, unique thing, and more of a fully-fledged piece of awesome.

Which incidentally, is exactly Portal vs Portal 2.

It nicely kept in style with Still Alive without emulating it to the point of lameness, which was a damn hard thing to do.

Just finished the single player and OMGOMGOMGOMG THIS GAME IS SO AWESOME!!

Also, the companion cube being thrown out with Chell was a nice touch!

Now, if the PSN ever gets back up, I could play with some of you PC nubs. :jamaritard:

You will know when you finish the co-op mode. I beat it over at a friend's house before I bought my copy.

I think he is absolutely right about the play testing thing. I just finished a play through on commentary mode, and so many times I was disappointed to hear them discuss areas that would have been harder, BUT NO THE PLAYTESTERS WERE SPENDING TOO MUCH TIME STARING BLANKLY INTO WALLS IN THIS ROOM SO WE DID THIS.

My only gripe with the game was that it could have been harder. Apart from that it's near perfect.

I believe it was glaurung who professed his love for me after I revealed that I'd been hooked on JoCo's greatest hits album. Of course, I discovered that by searching my own name on the GMD forum.

I honestly believe it's people like her that caused Portal 2 to be a much simpler game than it could have been.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

1) Your link doesn't work.

2) I thought those things were made about as implicit as they could be without Glados outright saying "I am Caroline, who is also your mother." The points about the teddy bear being near the stasis chamber and the supposed growth agent being used to take care of the Chell's age plothole was new to me, though.

Yeah I couldn't tell whether it was intended by Valve or just a really good crack theory.

I'm not sure if I agree with that bit about the growth acceleration.  I remember hearing Valve say that GLaDOS locks down the facility before the Black Mesa Incident, and they also said that Portal 1 was contemporary with Half-Life 2.  At least I think that's what they said.

AFAIK Portal 1 takes place some time in between HL1 and 2.

I never disputed that; Valve said that the neurotoxin incident in the Aperture Science labs supposedly takes place in 1998, so yes, Portal 1 would occur some time after that.  And then that same article you've linked suggests the most specific possible date range is the first decade of the 2000s, and Half-Life 2 supposedly takes place 20 years after the Black Mesa Incident.

Edit: Nvm, the neurotoxin incident takes place a few days before the Black Mesa Incident.  But still, the time range still checks out.

Edit #2: By the way, it's very clear from the Elysian Fields-style ending of Portal 2 that no one on the Valve Portal team has ever been to Michigan. :lol
