Laughing at inappropriate/random times
« on: April 02, 2011, 04:27:28 PM »
Does anyone else do this for the most random or maybe nonexistent reason sometimes?

During the Rush show a few days ago, my best friend and I had joked about the hilarity of panthers being released from behind the curtains. The stage setup was in an arena and, obviously, the seats behind Rush's stage were empty. We just found it incredibly hilarious if we saw something moving up there in the empty bleachers/seats, couldn't figure out what it was, and then saw a panther jump down into the next set of bleachers were the people were. Then you would see a lot more panthers slowly fill the crowds. It was made an even funnier mental image if Geddy yelled "Release the panthers!" mid-song (preferably right after a chorus before an instrumental) and panthers were cannon-balled from the stage into various parts of the crowd, or dropped down from strings attached to the ceiling.

Anyway, maybe one of those "you had to be there" stories, but the point is, any time I think about that now, I laugh. I was laughing to myself at the gym because I just found it that funny. People may have thought I was crazy, but whatever. I do this in class sometimes, too. It was way worse in high school, especially while it was dead quiet.

or when you look in someone's general direction and think of something funny so you smile, and then they look at you weird because they think you're randomly smiling at them so you're all like "nah bro I thought of something funny" and then it's all awkward

happens a lot.

I know a guy who laughed every time he was nervous. One day he got robbed and the robber threatened him with a knife. He started to laugh out loud and get red. Talk about an INAPPROPRIATE moment! He is alive btw.

One time I was on a certain website and made a thread telling people to bite their upper lips and blow as hard as they could.

The first response was, "THANKS ASSHOLE I JUST SPAT ALL OVER MY SCREEN"

The thought of it makes me laugh anytime, anywhere. Especially during exams.

I once laughed while staring at a girl from across the room. She left a few minutes later.

The end.

I had an "interview" for a university place (history) and I was explaining my interest in the medieval period and the bloke mentioned that they had an expert on medieval castle building who died recently.  For some reason my brain decided to tell me that this was hilarious, and I managed to stifle it but he must've seen my face nearly go... I have no idea why I wanted to laugh, I think I just wasn't expecting such a serious comment like that in what was mostly a fairly light hearted casual chat.  It was like an anti-humour kind of thing.  Definitely an awkward moment.

I also have a friend who likes to bring down conversations with depressing "wha wha whaaaaa" comments and we always make a joke of that so I guess I was thinking of that as well.

I do this all the time. It's annoying as fuck.

The worst part is, I'll try to hold in the laugh, and then I'll accidentally let it out, but I have my mouth shut so tight that I end up blowing my nose all over whatever happens to be in front of me.

Over time, I have found the best way to take care of it is to breathe deeply, if possible. That, or see if you can go to the "bathroom" to let it out. And then laugh in the bathroom after you're done.

Yes, because I can't imagine a time where walking in on some guy laughing like a lunatic in the bathroom would be slightly awkward. :lol

One time I was waiting for my co-worker to buy something from a shop inside of a train terminal near my workplace. I heard this strange whirring noise and I turn around to two dwarfs who seemed to be drag racing their motorized wheelchairs. I tried so hard not to laugh but I just completely lost it. My co-worker said I was being a bit inconsiderate but that caught me off guard.

OMFG I just did this and was like  :rollin
And it didn't even come out right because I was laughing so hard!

Anyway, I was walking in front of my 8-year old sis and dad once, and I thought of something absolutely hysterical and burst out laughing at the wonderful moment of right after my sis fell straight on her head. So tehre was my sis crying, and me laughing. Talk about a bad moment to laugh!

Oh man, I just remembered one time, in my friend's trailer that he got after the hurricanes hit here, we got super baked. I mean, I was full on retarded from whatever we had smoked.

Anyway, after we toked up, he told me about one of our friends sleeping around behind her boyfriend's back. About an hour later, said girl and a bunch of people are hanging out, and all of a sudden I am sitting there, still completely retarded, and she starts talking out loud, pretty much everyone was listening to her speak (about 12 people or so).

Well, she kept emphasizing certain words that my friend later called "trigger words", because she would say them, and it would make me laugh hysterically (remembering about her sluttiness) as I sat there retardedly laughing. I mean, everyone thought I was nuts because it was side-splitting laughter. She still has no idea why I laughed so hard.

I almost slept with her once a few weeks later, and she is married now, and I am forever alone.

That's a serious moral dilemma.  The "almost" in your story indicates that you acted in a noble and virtuous manner.

The almost means my best friend walked in on us making out on his bed, and he himself was drunk and literally passed out right next to us...and, luckily, when her boyfriend came about 2 minutes later (I didn't know she was still dating him, she said she was single but she was lying), we were kind of standing there wondering and drunk outta our minds.

Still, there was no shame doing it on my friend's bed. :lol
