Highlight of 2011 so far?

Twas thinking (dangerous, i know) about what the highlight of my year has been so far... And as i sat to try to figure it out, The Great Gig In The Sky came on (DT's cover...) and it hit me. The highlight of the year so far was seeing Which One's Pink?... especially when they played TGGITS... I think it was one of the guitarist's daughters singing... It made my night, and pretty much my year so far... (she was kinda hot too... and kept flirting with me before the show trying to get me to buy merch)

so what about Y'all?

I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Having an unexpected teacher for a few classes of mine this year that taught other students in my class but last year. Shit's not so bad after all. Over some time, shit's REEEAALLY good.

Learning jazz guitar. Discovering more music I guess.

Meeting new classmates and they're not bad at all.

Lots of things to be mentioned.

2011 has been so full of epic sh*t. But against the tidal wave of soul crushing brutality...

Getting accepted onto a training course to work voluntarily in prisons counselling alcoholics and drug addicts

Going to Amsterdam (First time outta the country in six years, wooh!)

Seeing Symphony X live again

I haven't hit one yet. This year has sucked pretty badly so far...BUT...I have Blackfield in London next week and then Dog Fashion Disco (in Baltimore) in June AND then I'm moving to Glasgow after the summer to live with two of my best friends :D

Saw a Wolfgang Gartner set at Ministry of Sound while rolling the entire night (midnight to 7 am). It was one of the most fun nights I've ever had.

The Devin Townsend gig last saturday was also ridiculously awesome.

Blackfield gig next week should be great as well, and then I'm going to Belgium the week after that, should be fun.

I guess for me it's simply figuring out all of my finances for going off to Uni and knowing I won't be stressed for money :)

Getting my degree was my second best highlight of 2010 :)

1. Making a lot of great new musical discoveries and broadening my tastes.
2. Having the longest talk with my best friend in a really long time. I miss her.
3. Hanging out with my friends every weekend or so.
4. Getting more acquainted with the members of this forum.

Yeah, I'm boring. Oh well  :D

Easily playing my first "real" show with my band. Was an awesome experience and I'll never forget it, especially after the show when we were driving together listening to King Crimson, smokin and talking about how much fun we had at the gig... and I'm excited for the shows we have lined up in the next few weeks as well.
