VG appreciation thread
« on: March 12, 2011, 12:43:16 PM »
How long has it been now? More than 2 years, right?
Let's appreciate the man in this thread.

To the newbies, VG (ViolentGreen) was a highly-esteemed poster who was run over by a car and later died as a result of it. A very sad day for DTF.

Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

One of my favorite people to debate with.  An all around great person and poster.  Tragic.
Now that Obama has closed Gitmo, when will he turn his attention to the abuses and torturing of the onions that are used to make the angry whopper?

Jesus Fuckin Christ.  I thought about him the other day.  We had a couple big run-ins in PR 5-6 years ago when I had a different name.  Always wondered what happened to him.
He is probably laughing as he now knows the answer to many questions endlessly debated in PR.

May he rest in peace.

I remember reading the occasional post about him when I would lurk on occasion, but it must have been right around the time he passed away.  From what you guys have said about him, he sounds like a dude I would have really enjoyed talking to.

RIP.

No idea. I remember reading the news article (somebody posted it), but I don't think it mentioned anything about that. I mean, we also don't know whose fault it was.

I thought that the article alluded to it being the driver's fault.  If I remember correctly, it was a taxi....

Yup, looks like Mark (VG) was in a crosswalk and the driver didn't stop:

One of the smartest and most insightful men I have ever talked to in my life. When he died, so did a piece of the forum. But what he left with us is greater than what he took with him.

The thing that stood out the most was his ability to effortlessly and eloquently word his thoughts and his passions in a way that no one else could. All of his posts contained a sort of poeticism that gave insight into the nature of his being. What a phenomenal person.

I miss Mark. (violentgreen).  I loved religious and political debate with him.   I always looked for topics he was involved in, because of his ability to aptly express his thoughts with a respectable and cordial tone.    I feel there is cause and effect in regards to my decreased post count over the yrs.  I find it correlates to his loss.  ( that and my 3rd child who is up every 2 hours)  He is surelly missed.

one last thing.  He was not only a big KC fan, but a big DT fan as well.

You spirit carries on,  Mark

I remember when we had that thread announcing the tragic news. I never got into a thread where he posted; also he was more of a regular in 5/8, that's why I didn't know who he was at the time of the events.

Having seen some of the threads over there and some of his posts here (before the last meltdown), yes, he was a really intelligent poster.

He really disliked me a great deal. I wish we could have mended fences before he died. Makes you realize though how short life can be and that you shouldn't leave conflicts unresolved if you don't have to.

Adami - honestly, VG didn't dislike too many people (if any).  I don't think he held personal grudges against anyone.  Any "dislike" was most likely just in the realm of political/ spiritual ideology.
