My copy of the self titled arrived today. I have not yet listened to the full album (only up to "Window to Space"), and while it is not quite at the level of The Fullness of Time and the three albums that follow it, it is still a good record, and can hold its own. After reading some of the comments about it in this thread, I was expecting it to be much worse than the band's future records, especially in terms of production. But the songs themselves are pretty good, and the production is not nearly as bad as other debut records such as WDADU and Symphony X's s/t. The only major issue I have with it is that the vocals are too low in the mix. The singer here reminds me of WDADU era Charlie Dominici, though I like this guy better.
So, while it is not as good as the band's other records, their s/t is more than solid, and a worthy part of their discography.
As an aside, the disc was around $25 including shipping, which is by far the most I have payed for a standard jewel case edition of any album. I know that it is out of print, but still! That's kind of ridiculous.
