I wish October 11th would hurry up and get here so us Americans can have it.

Ytse, I agree about "Stronger Than Death".  That's one of my favorites.  Actually I think the entire second half is a bit stronger than the first.  "Focus", "Perfect", and "Stronger Than Death" are amazing!

So, has anyone actually received a copy of the officially released CD?  (Not a promo copy).  I was reading a thread on Redemption's forum that I believe included you, beowolf, and some people were expressing concerns about the production or the album being mastered too loudly.  Just wanted to see if that's the case on the final product or if it was just the early promos, etc.

ya...the sound on my ...er...promo copy is a tad off.
I'd be shocked if the actual CD sounds like this.

This is a band that I think peaked with "The Fullness of Time" and I've just never really been able to embrace and get into anything else they've released, although I have purchased them all hoping to be as blown away as I was by songs like "Sapphires" and "Parker's Eyes" and have, unfortunately, been somewhat disappointed in most of their subsequent releases.  Not sure if I'm going to buy this one.  I'd love it if they would stream it somewhere so I could hear it first.

I thought it was Oct. 4th?

Shit, that's going to hold up the rest of my order an extra week.

Wolf, please let us Yanks know how the quality is.  I know I'm dying, hoping and praying that the quality on the official release is better than the "promos" that are out there.  I know it will be a bit better, just from the standpoint that the "promo" stuff that's out there is only 192K.

I just looked up my order and it just says "InProcess".  So that could really mean anything.  But I already have a "promo" copy of the album.  I just want my shirt and the second disc already.  So, hopefully I'll get it right around the 11th.

I hope I get my Redemption t-shirt by like Oct. 10, so I can wear it to the DT shows I'm going to on Oct. 11-12.  You never know if the size you picked is gonna fit properly, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm not sure what the problems with the production were on the promo but I'm listening to the real thing now.  The production is okay, but I'm only listening through my basic stereo system.  It sounds big and beefy, but the mix is quite muddy, not too bad, but definitely not as clear as Snowfall.

That's good to hear that the production is better on the real thing.  Not sure why it would be different though.  I figure it's all taken from the same source, but what do i know.  Yea, Snowfall was on a level all its own.  If I were the band, I wouldn't have changed a thing studio/production-wise from Snowfall when planning to record the new album.  I would have rehired all the same engineers and used the same studio, etc.

Ok I have to point this one out too:

Tool's Schism at 6:08 of Departure of the Pale Horse

So yeah, this album isn't perfect. Symphony X's Wicked riff and the main riff to Iconoclast found it's way into this album (Dreams from the Pit), and there are some familiar riffs from past Redemption albums, but I'm still going to agree with Nick's rating of an 8.5, cause even with it's flaws, the album still rocks.

can't wait for muh ordah.

for me, the last two songs carry the entire album...the rest of which is pretty 6/10.

This disc will make my top 10 of 2011, based on the last two songs alone....they're THAT good.

The covers were a nice listen but IMO, they are pretty boring and lifeless.  Edge of the Blade is tuned down so low for Ray.  :lol  Ray's voice is really is shot.

Yeah this is so true, and it is disappointing that he destroyed his voice mostly by smoking.

Yeah, although he would have lost range as time went by, he really could have helped himself.

Check his vocals towards the end of Blink of An Eye I think it is, the notes he's trying to go far just fall so short, disappointing.  I will say Funeral is easily one of the band's best songs.  I still need a lot of time to digest this whole record.

For me, the jury's not quite in yet on this one. I feel there's a lack of overall 'urgency' and songs that blow me away like they did on fullness of time and Origin of Ruins. It's all a bit too 'samey' for me. But like I said, it's too early days yet. I do think the covers were a nice touch.

If you got the 2CD edition, there is a second insert with some goofy pictures of the band.  Didn't actually look in the booklet though.  I had 7 CDs come in the mail yesterday, didn't really inspect them at all.

Nothing interesting with the packaging.  the inner about the cover songs is pretty funny.  You have the guys dressed as King Diamond, Lemmy, Ian Anderson and Buckethead.

I got the CD.  Now, I'll say that I got into Redemption last year and I fell hard and fast for their music.  I love it.  They've been my most listened to band the past year, by far.  But, as others have said in various reviews elsewhere, the production doesn't seem good to me.  It affects my listening experience, despite the fact that the songwriting here is very good!  I popped in the disc and heard it right away.  Certain vocals and instruments seem too loud, and others seem too low.  And the instruments all blend and crunch together into almost a fuzzy-type sound.  I'm not a music engineer, but from what I've read that is due to mastering a disc too loudly?

I must say, though, Nic can write some freaking songs.  This guy is a songwriting monster.  And what a lyricist.  Love this guy so much.

And to Ray, please take care of your voice.  You were blessed with the best voice in progressive metal, IMO.  Cherish it.
