Well, since I'm sure somebody is leaking things anyway, NVD's hard drive crashed on his computer and it took a while, but the audio and video was recovered.  It is near completion.  The cover art is pretty cool.

I don't have inside information, I'm just a kickstarter backer.

Thanks for that.  Good info.

Listening to some Redemption tonight.  Started with Snowfall on the iPod, now Origins.  I gotta say, no band's music comforts me quite like Redemption.  I can't explain it.

Dear friends -

It's been a while since I stopped by -- sorry for the absence but there's been a lot going on. : )

I'm pecking these notes late at night with the dwindling remains of a very nice gin and tonic beside the laptop, in a hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas where I'm spending the week getting my bi-annual workup of tests to make sure that cancer remains sitting in the curb where I kicked it. Early results are quite positive.

The DVD will be out one week later than envisioned due to some distribution logistics with our label, but will still essentially be ready by mid September.

I have two gorgeous new guitars being made by my friends at Conklin and they will be arriving shortly, after which I will resume writing for the next record. We will be announcing label news shortly.

For a number of reasons, I want this next record to be particularly excellent. Not the least reason being I want to say "thanks" to our most loyal fans -- you are the best.

Be well, all of you, and I pledge to be around more in the future!

Best,

Nick

Sounds like the band is probably leaving Inside Out Records. I hope that if that's the case, the switch doesn't hurt the sales of their next album.

Also, it's good to hear that Nick is still doing well.

I did get an email about the live DVD from a different PR group than who normally sends Redemption emails, so they very well could have moved to a new label.

Here's the official press release:

https://www.earsplitcompound.com/site/2014/07/18/redemption-sensory-records-to-release-live-cddvd-from-los-angeles-progressive-metal-specialists/

REDEMPTION: Sensory Records To Release Live CD/DVD From Los Angeles Progressive Metal Specialists

Laser’s Edge division, Sensory Records, has confirmed the late Summer release of the new live album from Los Angeles-based progressive/power metal group, REDEMPTION.

In 2012, REDEMPTION co-headlined the world-famous ProgPower Festival in Atlanta, where the band recorded a unique show featuring nearly eighty minutes of material and staged with complementary visuals that drive home the compelling emotional impact of this band. That performance is now being constructed for official worldwide release as, Live From The Pit, to be delivered in a CD/DVD package including additional bonus material, including a 5.1 surround mix and more. From fan favorites such as the never-before-performed “Parker’s Eyes” to the crushing emotional weight of “Stronger than Death,” the band’s performance captured the special ability of its music to deeply connect with fans. In the words of one concertgoer, REDEMPTION’s show “was definitely the most exhausting, personal and emotional musical experience I’ve ever had.”

Live From The Pit will see release via Sensory Records — REDEMPTION’s original label, responsible for their seminal first two albums — on September 16th, 2014.

Live From The Pit Track Listing:
1. Intro/Threads
2. The Suffocating Silence
3. Dreams From The Pit
4. Parker’s Eyes
5. Fall On You
6. Noonday Devil
7. Nocturnal
8. Stronger Than Death
9. The Origins Of Ruin
10. Black And White World
11. The Death Of Faith And Reason
12. Walls

[DVD bears same track listing plus 5.1 surround mix and bonus material]

REDEMPTION is one of the leading progressive metal bands in the world today. Formed in 2000 by guitarist / keyboardist / songwriter Nicolas van Dyk, the band features legendary progressive metal vocalist Ray Alder of Fates Warning, as well as guitarist Bernie Versailles (Agent Steel), and the phenomenal rhythm section of Chris Quirarte (drums) and Sean Andrews (bass). REDEMPTION’s combination of heaviness not usually found in progressive metal, irresistible melodies and emotional urgency has created a unique and resonant voice for this band that sets them apart from the many clones in the genre, and which has gained them the attention of fans, critics and musicians.

Through the band’s first three studios albums — 2002’s self-titled debut, 2005’s The Fullness of Time, and 2007’s The Origins of Ruin — REDEMPTION gained a loyal fanbase and garnered rave reviews worldwide from critics, who describe Redemption’s music as, “one of the best progressive metal acts to emerge in the past decade” [DPRP], praised their “magical aura and incredible songwriting” [Blabbermouth], stating, “it’s powerful, catchy, enslaving, technical; it’s the whole bunch” [Lords Of Metal] and having been dubbed, “the new star on the US prog-metal sky” [Squealer Rocks].

REDEMPTION has captivated audiences around the world with their incredible live performances. This was proven on a massive scale in 2008, when the band supported Dream Theater on a five-week North American tour and documenting a headlining show at the tour’s end, entitled Frozen in the Moment, the band returned to the studio to release 2009’s Snowfall on Judgment Day and 2011’s This Mortal Coil.

REDEMPTION:
Ray Alder – vocals
Nicolas van Dyk – guitars/keyboards
Bernie Versailles – guitars
Sean Andrews – bass
Chris Quirarte – drums

Hope they release a video teaser soon.  I was within an arms length of the stage and wore a Knicks jersey so I could possibly spot myself in the DVD.

Got my dvd in the mail over the weekend!  Spotted the silhouette of my head banging throughout the entire show in the straight-on camera angle that is used throughout the dvd.  And spotted a few friends as well.  So great to re-live the show.  I gotta say, that Bernie particularly stood out as nailing every solo with laser precision.  Ray sounded great as well.  I have to re-watch it later.  But I'm thrilled it's finally out. :)

Ray sounds much better than he did on the first DVD.  This was well worth the wait.

That's good to hear.

I regret not contributing to the kickstarter. I probably could have afforded it.

The DVD's weren't signed.  Because the production problems pushed the release back, Ray and the other guys weren't around, so we got a signed photo instead.  Have to admit, that was disappointing because now there is no difference between a kickstarter one and a regular one.

Got mine last night.  Haven't found the "easter egg" bonus track, though.  Supposedly, Nick said he had put in an extra video of a song that wasn't performed that night at ProgPower.  Damned if I know where it is!

Pretty sure that is the song "Origins of Ruin."  They didn't perform at the show.  They performed it the next morning during the intimate show for those who contributed to the DVD.  As you can see from the footage, they don't have any audience shots during that song because there's only about 15 of us there, lol.

If you click right on the main menu three times, none of the words are highlighted.  Choose that, and my copy has the beginning of Leviathan Rising, and then it cuts out in the middle of the song.  Don't know if that is a error on the DVD or not, I asked on the Kickstarter page if that was supposed to do that.  Guess I'll have to wait and see if others have the same issue.

Apparently, Bernie is in a coma.  Sad sad sad news.  He was so incredible on the new DVD.  He nailed every solo with laser precision.  Let's hope he gets better soon.  Such a talented guy.
