« on: February 06, 2011, 08:44:52 PM »
anyone like mr bungle?

i really like their demo OU818 and their first official cd 'mr bungle'.

im a huge faith no more fan and i just got around to checking out patton's original band. i was blown away when i first listened to their self titled just by the fact of how crazy it is. my favorite song is probably 'my ass is on fire'

anyone else a fan?

Patton is a king among men.

Ironically enough, Stubb (A Dub) helped me get through my dog being put down. I didn't like their demos as much. But self titled and California were spectacular. Disco Vilote was just kinda...eh. I don't know. Just didn't catch my interest too much.

Also try Tomahawk and Mondo Cane.

Mr. Bungle is a genius band and one of my favorites. Their three albums are each incredible and unique. Mike Patton is probably the most talented vocalist of everything. The rest of the band is insane too. Again; Great, great band. :tup

California is one of the greatest albums of all time!

Mr. Bungle is one of the only Patton bands/projects I really care for so far, though...

Not to drag this into a general Patton discussion, but I think I still have a dvd of his performance with Kaada, and I remember that one being really interesting.  I'll have to check it out again soon.

"REDUNDANT REDUNDANT REDUNDANT REDUNDANT REDUNDANT REDUNDANT."

Can't remember what Bungle song that's from, but I love that part.  I love Patton and Bungle and FNM.  I used to collect FNM cds in the 1990s and probably have like 40-50 total cds from live releases to bootlegs to singles to remixes to compilations, etc.

But anyway, back to Bungle.  They have a video for the first song of that self-titled album, but it was prohibited from MTV because of the hanging bodies.  You can see it on YouTube.

OOOOOH!  I just remembered about "Girls of Porn," lol

"My hand gets tired and my d*ck gets sore, but the girls of porn want more!
So I flip through the pages one more time, and I just left is jism fly!!"

He such a wacky lyricist.  Gotta love it.  It's a shame this band hasn't reunited.

I read that too.  But I never thought FNM would reunite.  So given time, I wouldn't rule out a Bungle reunion.  Time heals all wounds!

I really like California, although it drags a bit toward the end, IMO.  I couldn't get into anything else from them, besides a bit of Disco Volante.  Should really try again, great band.  Second to none in terms of originality.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's just been really jaded after dealing with the industry. I don't know, I guess he's kinda matured. But it can kinda be seen in some Peeping Tom and Fantomas.

Also this shows he's still a crazy bastard.

Hmm, true enough. And it never really hurts to hope. I just kinda wish he'd tour with his various side projects more. I don't think he plays too many shows. I could be wrong though.

Not really a fan, but I saw them twice in late 91 and then again in early 92. F##king strange, that's all I have to say, but still quite entertaining to see them in a small club.
They came out with these masks on playing some strange shit, I was like WTF??!!!
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

One time, I was listening to this song quite loudly whilst sitting in my car waiting for me julie to finish work.  It got up to the indian/muslim/whatever the fuck sounding part where its just the chanting and some indie as dude walks past my car and looks through the windshield at me and gives me a weird ass look, like 'WTF dude?'.

It looked like I was an Indian, sitting in a car in an alleyway, enjoying some indian music.

My friends and I cranked Stubb (A Dubb) as lout as we could outside the water park. I was singing along with it though most of it. It got to the part where he does that weird screechich OOOOOOH thing. I stuck my head out the window as a family with several small children passed and mimiced it pretty much perfectly.

The children looked frightened and the parents did not look amused. One of the highlights of the day.

Bump because California. You need to have some extent of insanity to enjoy this album. And I love it. It's just pure, in-your-face masterpiece of musical madness.

Because they won't do a reunion, ever. It's been said on interviews over and over.

And it's funny because I was just listening to that album today! :tup I don't know which one of their albums I like the most... It's really three masterpieces, and three very different albums too.

I have the first two Mr Bungle albums, and they're fantastic, as long as I'm in the mood.

A friend showed me this one song and at one point, Patton would go "Melt..... Banana" and there was a lot of dissonance. I assume it's on the third album, I don't know. I'm not even sure it's a Bungle song. Does anyone know??

Listened to Mr. Bungle today. The album is pretty awesome, although the way most of the songs seem to have a minute or so of meaningless noise at the end is a bit annoying. Favorite songs are probably Carousel and Squeeze Me Macaroni.
